Milan, thanks for letting me know it's fixed, it is easy enough
to click the middle button instead (really a scroll wheel, that's
why I was avoiding it). As for "ancient", well, this is standard
on CentOS 7, which is supported until 2024 and is the version
currently supported by my university so I am staying with it.

In principle, yes. As regards restoring the messages, I prefer to keep
everything on an IMAP server, but that's up to you. Restoring those
folders should work either way.

Reply-to-List doesn't work when the message you are replying to didn't
use it, and so doesn't contain the required headers. Reply-to-All is
the fallback, and of course any subsequent replies in the same sub-
thread are condemned to keep using Reply-to-All for the same reason.

Note that the Group Reply button handles this automatically, so I
encourage people to use it if they don't remember the keyboard
shortcut.

Hi,
you might be better with Maildir, than with MBOX/Spool, especially when
it's such large archive. That lets you copy folder structure as well
(only Spool directory can work with the directory).

With respect of the email need, I think it's logic, to identify
yourself/account, even it's more important for the sending part (which
you might have set to None for this account), than for the receiving
part. Still it's used to recognize you in the recipients, which is
important in replies and such.
Bye,
Milan

Re: [Evolution] Storing messages

2021-03-18 Thread Tor Harald Thorland via evolution-list
Thank you,

That is almost what I want.
I now tried once more and the confusing part is that I had to provide
an email address to get tot he step where I could choose mbox folder.
(Believe email address should not be needed for creating folders? - but
it is a requirement on the first page of account creation)

There is one large drawback here. I'm unable to create nested folders
and when moving folders from my email account to the mbox folder it
only moves the content of the root folder excluding any child folders.

Reason for moving this mail is that my quota on even a purchased
version of google is on the limit and with about 100GB of email which i
very seldom need - but sometimes - it is good to have at hand without
large processes of importing etc.

In evolution exporting a number of mails to a mbox file does exactly
that: generate a file with those mails. If you want to view them as if
it was an account, you need to configure that separatedly:
File → New → Mail account, and in Receiving Email choose either
"Standard Unix mbox spool file" or -probably more useful- "Standard
Unix mbox spool directory".
This way you can create a new account which loads a mbox you previously
exported. Or, rather than going through that separate step, you could
add the account first and then move the mails there.

Hello!

Was this OAuth2 issue the reason why Yahoo Mail kept asking for a password
since a month or so back, over and over again?

Hi,
your version is really ancient. There will be released 3.40.0 stable
series shortly (tomorrow). It's a very long gap between 3.28.5 and
3.40.0.

On a good side, this had been fixed meanwhile, I cannot reproduce it
here.
