On an Android device the entries in the Contact List weren't there. I tested with pointing the CardDAV account to localhost and restarting with the same results. I also packet captured with the correct settings and when attempting to delete the entry and getting the error saw no packets exchanged. I finally just deleted the Address Book and readded it and the entries were gone. Thank you. [Evolution] Issue with CalDAV and deleting contacts
Hey all, I've recently upgraded to Evo 3.18.5.2. When I attempt to delete a contact I get a "Failed to delete contact" "Delete failed with HTTP status 8". This is using Baikal...interestingly it is only impacting contacts added with a only a first name. Is there a step I can take to say manually remove or debug this? Thank you. [Evolution] Trick for getting birthdays to show
Hey all, I just noticed that birthdays don't appear to be showing up in the calendar even though I have that item as check marked. My understanding was that this would pull the birthdays from your contacts. I'm pulling/pushing contacts using CalDAV using Baikal and can see the birthday on the contact. I also have that same address book chosen in the Birthdays & Anniversaries properties. This is Evolution version 3.10.4 running on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. Thanks for any insight. [Evolution] Interesting behavior
Hey all, So I've already solved this, but thought I'd put it out here to those that may see this in the future. First off, this is on Evolution 3.10.4, Ubuntu 14.04. Evolution continues to run solid for me with no issues. This connects to my email account using pop3. I recently swapped the server running these services out from 32 bit, to 64 bit, but the exact same operating systems versions and exact same configurations. This is where it gets weird...after running for about 30 minutes I noticed that emails were coming in and Evolution was receiving them via pop3, but the emails were old and on old threads and marked as unread. Using imap however these same emails were not only not old, but completely different threads. After doing a number of checks (and deleting /var/mail/account) I created a second pop3 account with the exact same information but the name in Evolution and then I started seeing the emails come through correctly again. I have no idea why, but there it is...it seemed that my current pop3 account got"stuck". Anyway for those that might see this behavior that's what fixed it for me. I guess I'm not really sure what your "fat, dumb and happy" mode was before, and how Evolution, or a new version of Evolution?, has changed things so you're not in that mode any longer...? I did not pay attention to archiving because I thought everything was copied to my hard drive. It's still not clear to me why your email on your IMAP server is being deleted, if you didn't mark it for deletion on your local system. Are you saying that your ISP/IMAP server provider is deleting old messages from your folders, even if you didn't mark them for deletion...?!?! If that's the case then as already mentioned the right answer is to get another provider which is not insane, not futzing with workarounds. IMO anyway. My isp has a 90 day limit that I did not know about. The only alternative is tw, and I doubt that the will be a big improvement. I do think it is time to get better email hosting, which is independent of the isp. -- dave boland dbola...@fastmail.fm Reason #725 why I a) host my own and b) use pop3s. The flexibility and control are unmatched. My 2 cents. Is there anything like that available, or a method to do that with Evolution? Thank you. Could you explain *why* you would like to do that / which underlying problem you would like to solve, and what is the difference between your interpretation of the words "open" and "import"? Also, which mail account type is this about? Which Evolution version? andre Thanks for looking at this Andre, My Evolution version is 3.10.4 on Ubuntu 14.04 (I like sticking with the longer term releases). It has run flawlessly for me. The account type is POP3. I currently don't have any issues yet. I have done just the full backup, and that has worked fine. My concern however is that my Evolution data is around 3 gigs. I'd like to trim thatand keep say all of 2014 up to current emails and and sent items. I can easily just do another full backup and delete everything prior to 2014, but there doesn't seem to be an effective method that I have found to access those emails and sent items should I need to recall them. I know I could most likely just do a restore in a VM, and I may have to do that, but that seems a little cumbersome. As for open and import, I'm thinking like...I guess Outlook maybewhere you can treat an email as a file object...double-click it and open. Import makes me think of copying data from a file, or directory, into my active Evolution data directory. I hope that helps explain...thanks again. Re: [Evolution] Internal server error occurred
On 2014-01-24 08:17, Pete Biggs wrote: Ever since my work place moved their mail services off of own Exchange servers to cloud based Office 365 I've been having problems sending, receiving and working with email using Evolution. Currently I'm running version 3.8.4 on Ubuntu 13.10 but this problem has persisted for a few versions. The problems I describe apply to my current set up using EWS but moving to IMAP did not help. In what way did it "not help". IMAP on Evolution is really quite solid. I have two other accounts, IMAP, from other providers set up as well and have no problem with them. That sounds like it's a problem with the server then :-) The problems I am experiencing with O365 & EWS are: 1. Some random email does not appear in my inbox but is visible in the webmail. I don't see any pattern for what email gets skipped. 2. Sending email I frequently get "Internal server error" 3. Moving email between folders I frequently get "Internal server error" or "Failed to move message cachefile". Email sometimes gets lost when moving between folders. I suspect the "Internal Server Error" is a catch all for when EWS doesn't get a response. Have you tried running Evolution from the command line - that may give you more detail. Also try turning on some debugging to get more detailed information. Basic debugging information is here: https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Evolution/Debugging unfortunately the EWS debugging info isn't there - try $ EWS_DEBUG=2 evolution or $ CAMEL_DEBUG=ews evolution (can anyone more knowledgeable say what the correct debug variable is?) P. And when in doubt, packet capture."the truth is in the packet" ;) James ___ evolution-list mailing list evolution-list@gnome.org To change your list options or unsubscribe, visit ... https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-list

[Evolution] Installing from source assistance
Hey all, I'd like to start the road to getting the latest Evolution on Ubuntu 13.10, since the current package is pretty old. I've not found a lot of information online about it, so I thought I'd ask here. My plan is to compile on a development box, then create a .deb package to install on my main machine. Any pointers or guidance would be appreciated...thank you.
