Re: [Evolution] Additional Mailbox with ews in Evolution with an unindexed mailbox

2019-10-29 Thread Vince D. via evolution-list
:-o [ohhh] it's actually a menu list field *with text input*.
That's what I've missed ! (I thought I had only the choice in between what
was on the drop down menu list.

I guess i'm not the only one to have missed that subtle GUI detail.
Consider that a tool tip or a small text explanation under the field could
help people here.

I pasted the folder ID, then it the "User:" field i've put the special
unindexed mailbox which autocomplete and it didn't work.
I've then tried with my proper email and that went ok.

Thanks for the help Milan 👍
Regards,
Vincent.

Hi,
okay, that explains it. The "Choose" dialog searches only the Global
Address List.

> (I paste the Folder ID in the "User:" field, is that good ?)

No, it's not good. To subscribe to a folder of other user evolution-ews
needs to know: a) which user, b) which folder. That's why there are two
entries, not only one. Instead of picking "Inbox/Calendar/..." from
the offered list of known standard folders, you use the folder ID.

Re: [Evolution] Additional Mailbox with ews in Evolution with an unindexed mailbox

2019-10-28 Thread Vince D. via evolution-list
Hi,
yes that is weird but I can assure your it is like that. are you sure that
the auto completer of the User field and the one in the window that pops
after pressing "Choose..." are both using the same EWS command ? because if
not, the exchange server most likely use 2 different indexes for each
lookup.
The mailbox I'm trying to subscribe is an, on purpose, unlisted one (hidden
from the global address book results).

Also, I've read here

that I can subscribe to a mailbox by the Folder ID and I have tried that
first with an other person mailbox.
It didn't work, do you have an idea why.
That user has shared his mailbox with me, and can access it doing the
subscribe with is email. Would there be a bug in the subscribe using the
Folder ID. (I paste the Folder ID in the "User:" field, is that good ?)

Thank you,
Vincent.

Hi,
that's weird. The Choose button searches the Exchange server only, thus
if the user is filled there, then it should be found.

Did you try Edit->Preferences->Mail Accounts->->Edit->
Receiving Email tab->"Open Mailbox of other user" options? That may
mean to have configured two accounts in Evolution, one for your own
account, one for the other user.

[Evolution] Additional Mailbox with ews in Evolution with an unindexed mailbox

2019-10-21 Thread Vince D. via evolution-list
Hi,

Following this old thread I am trying to open a shared mailbox on which I
have been granted access (I can open it under outlook an outlook webclient).
https://mail.gnome.org/archives/evolution-list/2013-January/msg00146.html

Note that the mailbox is not indexed (on purpose) and that in the window
"Subscribe to folder of other EWS user..." I can type the email of the
mailbox in the user field and have it autocompleted, but it doesn't appear
if I do a search by pressing the "Choose..." button.

So I fill the User field and choose Folder name "Inbox" then press ok, but
get the error message "No results were found."

Is there another way to open the shared mailbox ? any chance by hacking a
config file if that's just a GUI issue ?

Thanks for your feedback.

Hi,
just in case, if you mean "Public Folders", with that "shared folders",
aka the folders are not accessed through a concrete personal account,
then it's yet another feature [3], part of 3.7.5+.

In the preselected list only appears Inbox. I write with make sense, but
the message is "Id is malformed"

You can subscribe basically to any folder with the first option, you
either pick the predefined name, or if you know the folder ID, then you
can paste there a folder ID too (it is visible in Evolution's
"Permissions..." dialog, accessible in context menus on mail
folders/calendars/..., and can be copied from there).

When you use the second feature, then you get everything like if you
created a direct account for the other user.

Is the ability to use shared Exchange calendars also going to be part of
EWS?

Hi,
it depends on your evolution-ews version. Try to right-click the EWS'
account name in the left folder tree in the Mail view and pick from
there "Subscribe to folder of other user", to get only certain folders,
or you can configure a new EWS account, with the same credentials as
your current EWS account, only check in the Receiving Email tab the
"Open Mailbox of other user", which will show folders of the user you'll
pick (supposing you're allowed to open that user's mailbox).

The first is part of evolution-ews 3.6.0+,
the second will be part of 3.8.0+.
