Theoretically I'm mistaken, if you read posts of real usage, I'm
seemingly right, rsync comes with pitfalls, especially regarding the
UID. However, you are seemingly right that rsync could do the job, but
mistaken that it is the easiest way, it seems to be rocket science to
use rsync without a mistake. At least for all of us, who don't use rsync
for this kind of task on a regular basis.

Assuming POP accounts using the same MUA or off-line IMAP and assuming
the same UID, for both approaches, a sync should do the job. If not, at
least a script might be needed to run chown. There might be other
pitfalls as well.

Ok, now I understand. If it shouldn't be IMAP accounts, it still would
be possible to select several emails at once for saving them as a
single mbox file and then to import it by the other computer's MUA.

That was not clear as you did not explain this actual underlying
problem to solve in your initial email. :)
If you are after *transferring* data for good, there's no need to set
up a Search folder which I mentioned in reply to your initial email.

Roger that. I've just got a pile of emails on one laptop in a different
account that I want to move to a different laptop, different user.
Thanks.

I'm using POP and set up Evolution to delete retrieved mails for each
account after one day.

[x] Leave messages on server
Delete after 'x' days

For 'x' chose a time that fits to your needs.

This only fails for mails without a 'Date' header, but then you still
could save the mail as mbox to an USB stick and load it by the other
computer's MUA, assuming the mail without 'Date' header shouldn't be
spam.

Oops! For this purpose I 'Bcc' in addition to what I already
mentioned.

The OP is asking about Sent messages, so I'm not sure how this applies.

Make sure both accounts are remote (like IMAP). Set up the second IMAP
account on your first laptop. Create a search folder on your first
laptop that combines the Sent folders of both IMAP accounts.

I am interested in combining sent messages in an Evolution account on
one laptop, with sent messages in an Evolution account on another
laptop for a different user. How can I do this? Thanks in advance.
