Is this Office365? If so, then be aware that Microsoft are removing
basic auth, and hence app passwords, later this year.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/clients-and-mobile-in-exchange-online/deprecation-of-basic-authentication-exchange-online

I don't know how this affects on-prem Exchange.

[Evolution] EWS: Offline Global Address List problem

2022-07-27 Thread Matt Rockwell
May be too late as this is an old post.

It's July 26 2022 using Evolution 3.44.1-0ubuntu1, and the problem described is
chronic.

Solved by removing Outh2 and using Standard EWS with an app-specific password.
Problem disappeared.

Hi,
there will always be shown a GAL in the Contacts view. You can see
whether it's offline or online only whether it shows all contacts. Even
the online can show some contacts, those you've been searching for, but
not all, not with the full details.

If you want to be sure that the addressbook uses the new option from
Preferences, then restart the evolution-addressbook-factory process
(see `ps ax | grep evolution`). Of course, ideally do that when
Evolution and other contact-related applications are not running.

I do not recall whether it is known or not, or whether I saw it
anywhere. It can be a bug. My GAL is small, and doesn't change often.
The address book tries iterative updates, as the server supports it,
but if it cannot do it or if the server has it disabled (which I
doubt), it downloads whole GAL on every change, which can take some
time with large GALs.

Thanks, I removed the "Cache offline address book" but I still got an Offline
GAL, one that
I can populated by searching for people, then these are visible in that offline
GAL. I rather not
recreate my account again as it takes a long time to download everything.
Can I fix somehow anyway?

Sidenote: populating the offline GAL has always been tricky(even with Basic
auth), every restart of
evo lost it and it could take many minutes before it was populated, sometimes
one had to do a few Refreshes too.

Hi,
you are using OAuth2 with the evolution-ews, right? I saw some such
message when playing with it. The OAuth2 doesn't work with Offline GAL.
Just turn it off in Edit->Preferences->Mail Accounts->->
Edit->Receiving Options->Cache offline address book.

With that off you cannot browse the GAL, but you can still search in it
(and autocompletion works with it too).

[Evolution] EWS: Offline Global Address List problem

2019-12-03 Thread Joakim Tjernlund via evolution-list
Evo usally takes quite some time to readn the GAL but recently I cannot access
it at all.
This error (new) pops up:
The reported error was “Failed to update GAL:208;reason="The token
contains no permissions, or permissions can not be
understood.";error_category="invalid_grant"”.
Any idea what is wrong?

Evo: 3.34.2
