Milan,

The subscription check didn't help as the folder was never subscribed to
- it was a folder and sub-folder where I put selected e-mails on a
certain topic. The cache won't work as all of the e-mails are well over
90 days, so they will not be on my isp's server. Thanks for trying
though!

I
figured out that I had to move one folder (with sub folders) and wait
then until all sub folders had been moved completely.
Then I did the
same with the next folder...
Boring, but this worked...

Hi,
I do not know for sure, but it can also be that something happened to
your local cache of the IMAP account.

Try to access Folder->Subscriptions... menu option for that IMAP
account and check what folders are shown there. Maybe
subscribe/unsubscribe the problematic one, or some of its parent(s).

In case it'll not help (also after evolution's restart after these
changes), get rid of the local cache and let the evolution to download
the cache from scratch. The local cache is stored under
   ~/.cache/evolution/mail//
Close the Evolution, rename the whole folder and then run the Evolution
again.
Hope it helps,
Milan

[Please don't top-post on the list]

The problem with drag-and-drop (not just in Evo) is that it's fine as
long as everything works, i.e. you don't drop network connectivity,
there is enough space on the target drive, Evo or your system doesn't
crash etc. etc. Clearly your chances of success go down as the total
amount to be moved goes up. That's why I recommend something like
imapsync, which allows you to continue from where you left off if
something bad happens.

Having said all that, it's hard to know what specifically went wrong in
your case, but it's quite likely that your mail is still hanging around
"somewhere". As a first step, I would suggest quitting and restarting
Evo to see if it resyncs.

[Evolution] Error refreshing folder

2015-12-04 Thread dave boland
All,

My newest dilemma is an error I'm getting after what appears to be a
failed attempt to copy a folder. What can I do to fix this?

I moved a folder from an email account to an On This Computer whatever.
The folder had a sub-folder. Looks like the sub-folder didn't copy.
The error is "The reported error was "Error refreshing folder: STATUS
Invalid mailbox name". I need to get the folder back and clear the
error, but how? I did backup the email, but I didn't see the folder in
the backup. Help appreciated.

Evolution version: 3.16.5

Thanks,
Dave

Removing folders.db worked OK.

Yes, maybe this comes from the webmail setup or another Mail.app. After removing
folders.db then all directories were recreated again. All is fine,
thank you. I even saved some 70MB of disk space, how come??

Not sure about Calendar (I don't use it). Drafts might be local or
remote, depending on your Defaults config for the account. There is no
standard folder called Deleted Items (at least in Evo 2.24 which is what
I use) so I don't know what that is. Looks like something left behind by
Thunderbird or another client (Mail.app?).

I have evo 2.26.1.1 installed so there is a database file present. I'll
try moving away folders.db when back home. If I remove the whole
sub-directory under will everything be restored? A lot of
folders exist in the folders directory: INBOX, Calendar, Drafts, Deleted
Items, etc?? If removing files, I assume only the files under INBOX can
be removed, not the other ones.

Since it's an IMAP folder you can remove everything and Evo will just
recreate it, though it might take a while depending on your connection
speed and the folder size. However if you want to remove the minimum
possible, the answer will depend on your version of Evo which so far you
haven't mentioned. The reason is that recent versions use an SQLite
database for folder info while earlier ones used a variety of index
files.

If you have a folders.db file in ~/.evolution/mail/imap/
then yours is a recent version of Evo. Try just moving it aside ("mv
folders.db folders.db.backup"). Do this with Evo completely stopped of
course ("evolution --force-shutdown"), then restart Evo and see what
happens.

Before doing anything it might be worth trying to access it with a
different client, e.g. Thunderbird or Claws, just to make sure the
problem isn't at the server end.
