[Evolution] Highlighting current message

2013-03-25 Thread gene
I am using evolution 3.2.3 on ubuntu 12.04

As soon as I click on the header pane or the message pane of the
selected message - I loose the highlight in the message list.
Do I need a later version/patch?
Bug?

No.

It's down to the theme you are using and possibly which window manager
you have (i.e. Gnome or KDE or something else). I'm using the bog
standard Gnome theme on Fedora 18 and the unfocused highlight is only a
slightly darker shade of grey than the grey bars on the message list -
the highlight doesn't go away, it's just not as noticeable. If it so
happens that the colour of an unfocused highlight in the theme you are
using is the same colour as the message list, then you will appear to
loose the highlight.

It is a bug, but not in Evolution.  This is a theme/display bug;
whatever color scheme [theme, most likely] you are using doesn't make
the inactive selection highlight contrasty enough. ... Or the contrast
of your physical display is lousy.

Sorry Pete, but my Dad was an English teacher and some things push my
buttons :-)

I know it's wrong - don't know why I put it. At least it wasn't a
your/you're or its/it's :-)

All I can claim is that it was early and that Geordie is my first
language.

Seems like Milan Crha has already released patch for this bug. And also
committed it :)

I can confirm this... and do not have bugzilla.gnome.org account.

Opening a BZ account is easy. If you do this you can both report new
bugs and add comments to existing ones. This applies not only to
Evolution but to all of the Gnome ecosystem.

Does it *always* happen?

Because I'm using wide-view and if I switch folders the current message
in preview is highlighted; in about 50% grey vs. if I click on a message
the highlight is about 75% grey.

Could this be a theme related issue?

If you do this you can both report new
bugs and add comments to existing ones.

You can also add yourself to the CC list of a bug you are interested in
- so you get a notification is something happens.

no. And your question made me think this over. Apparently this bug
occurs when reading messages in thread view, when currently read message
is somewhere deeper in a thread, and you collapse this thread - then
none of message is highlighted. Naturally I would expect Evo to
highlight top message in this thread.
Now the question is, should this be threated as a bug, or rather as
wish list?
