In that case, I would expect it not to pick the subfolders, but to detect them the next time it is opened. Just to discard the obvious: the subfolders aren't collapsed, right? As long as the two Evolution versions are the same and you copy also hidden directories (those with a leading dot), it should work. One thing is the content of the folders on the disk (the files), another thing is the folders.db content, whose information is used in the message list. These things are synced on update. > In addition mail appears in the inbox but the contents of mails > are unreadable. Is there a file name mismatch? Verify the path and the difference in it. [Evolution] Strange sync behaviour
Hi All, I have got 2 Ubuntu latest version installations, one on a laptop one on a desktop. Evolution is on the laptop and works great. I use megasync to sync documents between the two machines automatically, and I am trying to repeat this for evolution. I have set up a sync to sync the whole .local/share/evolution directory to the cloud, then back down again to the desktop. All the files appear in the right place on the desktop however when opening Evolution on the desktop it does not pick up my mail folders. I use subfolders of my inbox for mail filing. The actual subfolders are present in the right directory, but the evolution install is not picking them up. I have not currently set any external mail setting on the desktop installation. Any reasons you can think of why it does not recognise the subfolders. In addition mail appears in the inbox but the contents of mails are unreadable. Thoughts, tips gratefully received. Lastly, the email account I use is POP not IMAP therefore using IMAP is not possible. My Calendars appear to be up to date, and I have lost no Contacts, but I am interested in doing this better. If we were not meant to run the visor script, why is it still in the /etc/dynamic/scripts directory? Now that I have visor module loaded, how do I get back to the libusb idea? Do I need to remove the usbserial and the visor modules? What should I put in the device tab of the synch preferences? It shows usb: should it be usb:0 or usb:1 or just usb: ? I was not able to get this running using this setting before I loaded the visor module. Should I remove the visor script from /etc/dynamic/scripts directory? Perhaps that script is hijacking the usb bus somehow. The reference in the release notes, for which you provided the link, are not clear. Thank you thankyou. I pulled the file off the mirrors today, and loaded it. I tried a few things and then a message popped up suggesting that I was trying to sync the old way using /dev/pilot and the visor module was not loaded. Perhaps I needed to use usb: instead. Well I tried usb: and usb:0 and usb:1 but no good. So I ran #modprobe visor, switched the port to /dev/pilot and tried again. Still no good, so I fired up jpilot, and it work on /dev/pilot. So then I performed $ evolution --force-shutdown and restarted evo. Checked my Synch options and voila, it all worked. I suppose that the dynamic visor script did not create the /dev/pilot because there wa no visor module loaded. There was the other day, but that was another day. C'est bon!
