[ewg] RDMA in SDP

2008-03-04 Thread zhang Jackie
hi,
I am reading the source code of SDP in OFED 1.2.5.1, I found only
Send/Recv was used , I want to know why RDMA is not supported in SDP.

 Thanks.

I agree with Woody, and would add that we should focus on restricting
the scope of any changes to what is truly needed for the fix. Moving to
a new kernel version for a dot release, for example, is extremely
disruptive to all components.

I think that it is a good idea to have a process for having dot
releases,
but I am a little concerned that they do not get the same level of
testing
that we put into the major releases. I would vote for maybe having
fewer
dot releases with more regression testing on each one.

my 2 cents,

I hope we can put out point releases like we did for ofed-1.2.5.x. At
least for bug fixes in device drivers and libs.

Hi Tziporet,

I know OFED 1.3 GA is just out but I'm trying to look ahead. Will there
be fix releases for OFED 1.3 ? If so, are these going to be time based
(every n weeks) or on a critical need basis ? Thanks.

Re: [ewg] IBV_WR_RDMA_WRITE_WITH_IMM problem

2008-03-04 Thread Matthew Small
First off, replace every WQE with CE in my question (long day). Secondly,
both responses were very helpful and Dotan, you are correct that I never
posted a receive on the sink side of the RDMA operation. I saw nowhere in
the specification where it said this must be done (and it is a bit
counterintuitive given the nature of RDMA), but I can now see the need given
that it would be a bit of a hassle if CE's could appear from nowhere (on the
receiver) without a corresponding receive WQE posted by receiver. Thanks.

Re: [ewg] Re: cannot install SCST with SRP support

2008-03-04 Thread Vu Pham

I got:

a. modprobe scst
b. modprobe scst_disk

In order to run with *scst_disk* you need to patch and
rebuild the kernel. Please follow SCST readme to do this task

If you don't want to patch and rebuild the kernel, you can
run with *scst_vdisk* and get the same performance. I attach
here an example to setup *scst_vdisk*

FATAL: Error inserting scst_disk
