Yes, usually a couple days before the meetings. They happen bi-weekly on
Mondays at 9:00am PST.
The next one will be next Monday, May 23. Arlin will send out the agenda later
this week.

Thanks for the quick response.

Do we have any rough estimate on when the next major release of OFED will GA?

I would not be surprised in the least if backports to an EL6 kernel are
a simple no-go for current upstream code.

Yes, and of course it depends on which distro kernel we attempt to backport to.
For the later model RHEL 7.x and SLES 12 kernels, it may not
be as bad, if those kernels have picked up the required upstream kernel
improvements. I am however worried that it might be too hard to try to backport
to a RHEL 6.x series kernel. We'll have to evaluate that once we start work on
the next major OFED.

In this case, I expect you guys to be hurting hard when you try to do
all the backports. The problem is that in the last year we have made
lots of changes that depend on upstream kernel improvements both inside
the RDMA stack and out. I suspect this backport cycle may be worse than
those in the past. But I could be wrong...

In the past, when we move up to a new kernel version, it usually takes a fair
amount of time for people to develop all the backports
to the various Linux distro kernels. From past experience, I would estimate at
least 6 months, which would put the release
at the end of the year or so. If you want to keep closer tabs on the
activities, you can subscribe to the ewg email list and/or attend the

Since the RoCEv2 support has now been accepted upstream (in 4.6 I believe), it
will be in the next major OFED release which
we will start working on following the completion of OFED-3.18-2. Work on that
next OFED should start in a few weeks as OFED-3.18-2
is already at RC1.
