hi this is what i find noteable When Lotus 1-2-3 was first released, the program assumed that the year 1900 was a leap year, even though it actually was not a leap year. This made it easier for the program to handle leap years and caused no harm to almost all date calculations in Lotus 1-2-3. When Microsoft Multiplan and Microsoft Excel were released, they also assumed that 1900 was a leap year. This assumption allowed Microsoft Multiplan and Microsoft Excel to use the same serial date system used by Lotus 1-2-3 and provide greater compatibility with Lotus 1-2-3. Treating 1900 as a leap year also made it easier for users to move worksheets from one program to the other. Although it is technically possible to correct this behavior so that current versions of Microsoft Excel do not assume that 1900 is a leap year, the disadvantages of doing so outweigh the advantages. If this behavior were to be corrected, many problems would arise, including the following: * Almost all dates in current Microsoft Excel worksheets and other documents would be decreased by one day. Correcting this shift would take considerable time and effort, especially in formulas that use dates. * Some functions, such as the WEEKDAY function, would return different values; this might cause formulas in worksheets to work incorrectly. * Correcting this behavior would break serial date compatibility between Microsoft Excel and other programs that use dates. If the behavior remains uncorrected, only one problem occurs: * The WEEKDAY function returns incorrect values for dates before March 1, 1900. Because most users do not use dates before March 1, 1900, this problem is rare. NOTE: Microsoft Excel correctly handles all other leap years, including century years that are not leap years (for example, 2100). Only the year 1900 is incorrectly handled. Hi XLCPA, I don't know a quick method of doing this, although there may be one. However, to test for an empty clipboard, you could paste to an unused cell, then test the cell. I need to write an IF statment in VBA to test if the Excel clipboard if empty. Please advise. Ideally you should Advanced Filter instead of AutoFilter.
For AutoFilter, the code should be as follows:-

Note:- to include additonal character alongwith here, use ="=*here*" in the
code.

Dear Mahesh,
Every "contain condition" can only be applied as single criteria and
you have three criteria for contain (here,there,everywhere). In VBA, I
think maximum of two criteria is allowed.
On applying criterea3 it was throwing an error.
But I think if you will use condition "contain here", it will cover
all your three words.
Below is the code which you may use. Let me know if it helps.

Below mention macro auto filter the cells, which contain words mention in
array, but if within cell another word is there then it dont works
Like if cell contain word like "a Here".
how can i change Criteria?
when i record the macro i got criteria1 as Criteria1:="=*Here*"
i try to modify macro, Criteria1:="=" & vList, this dont works.

Hi Wibur, In Excel 2007 go to Excel options -> Advanced -> uncheck the After Pressing enter move Selection. This would suffice. Ankur, I have checked your formulation as well and it is good. Only two
things you need to watch here is if the locators i.e, 1a, 1b etc are not
coming at the end. But that's been not covered in the test data, so it's
good.

What you have done is the equivalent of going to your auto mechanic and asked his opinion of the best method for controlling moles in your yard. Sure, he MAY know something about it, but it is not his primary area of expertise. The people in this user group have a wide variet of areas of expertise, and they all use (or want to improve their use) of Excel and VBA. What you have done is tossed out some terms and data and hope someone will recognize the terms and apply them to the data. By definition, the "Envelope" of a polyline is a curve that is tangent to each segment of the polyline. to solve this "properly" I think involves the use of differential equations (or partial differential equations). then, you want to "calculate the polyline that is the maximum of them".. I think the best response I can give is... Huh? I thought "calculating the polyline" is really calculating the Envelope. and, the "maximum"? I THINK the "maximum" is the area under the curve of the resulting envelope. So.. are you wanting to figure out which of the two polylines is the 'maximum'? or are you wanting the equation of the envelope? sorry.. but it's getting beyond my area of interest. Excel has "events" that you can use to trigger VBA code execution.
One "event" is called SelectionChange.
If you right-click on the sheet "tab" and select "View Code" it will open the
VBA editor.
paste this into the editor window:
Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range)
If Target.Address = "$A$2" Then Range("A1").Select
End Sub
this macro is triggered whenever a cell on the sheet is selected.
the range selected is passed to the macro as "target"
the macro tests to see if the address of the selected cell is A2.
if it is, then it selects cell A1
(note, this will THEN call this routine once again, but since the new cell:
"A1"
is not "A2", nothing happens)

Dear members, Are you aware of this bug ? any comments ? A leap year, which occurs every four years, contains an additional day (February 29). Although the year 1900 was not a leap year, Excel treats it as such. In other words, when you type 2/29/1900 into a cell, Excel does not complain. It interprets this as a valid date and assigns a serial number of 60. If you type 2/29/1901, however, Excel correctly interprets it as a mistake and doesn’t convert it to a date. Rather, it simply makes the cell entry a text string. How can a product used daily by millions of people contain such an obvious bug? The answer is historical. The original version of Lotus 1-2-3 contained a bug that caused it to consider 1900 as a leap year. When Excel was released some time later, the designers knew of this bug and chose to reproduce it in Excel to maintain compatibility with Lotus worksheet files. Why does this bug still exist in later versions of Excel? Microsoft asserts that the disadvantages of correcting this bug outweigh the advantages. If the bug were eliminated, it would mess up hundreds of thousands of existing workbooks. In addition, correcting this problem would affect compatibility between Excel and other programs that use dates.
