Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Numer To Text

2010-10-04 Thread P.VIJAYKUMAR
Dear Ankit,

There is no Direct formula to convert numbers into text.But there are some
add-ins available in the websites. just google for text to numbers converter
in excel add-in.
Once you download the add-in to install the add-in to excel go to the excel
ribbon Button, the from there open excel options ,then select add-in from
the avialble options. Excel will then display the add-ins which are already
installed . It will also have a go button in the bottom for installing
others in that it will show some available not installed add-ins,you can
also install them along with our add-in..After clicking go button then
click the browse button then select the file which you downloaded to any
disk or any place in your computer.Then click OK.Your add-in is
installed.Once installed the file which is selected for installation should
not be moved from the place it is downloaded.To many movements make the
add-in not working.So when downloading only make sure that the file is saved
in a place in which is is not disturbed further.Once installed you add-in
shall work in every workbook. Make sure that an addin button is added to the
Menu Bar.Hope this clarified your problem

VijayKumar

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ COPY MODULES FORM LOCKED .XLSB FILE

2010-10-04 Thread Paul Schreiner
The macros that I posted will have an issue because you cannot
remove the "ThisWorkbook" module and import a new one.

What you MAY have to do is to put the macro into a "temporary" .xlsb or .xlsm
file.
then, when the .xlsx file is opened, copy the sheet to the temporary file
and close the .xlsx file.
If you planned to save and overwrite the file, you can always include a saveas
statement.

2010-10-04 Thread sudheer lolla
HI PAUL

IF I KEEP A PIECE OF CODE IN "This Workbook" SAY I KEEP IN "WORKBOOK_CHANGE"
THEN WHENEVER SHEET CHANGES THIS WILL BE INVOKED

FOR THIS TO HAPPEN I NEED TO COPY A MODULE FROM .XLSB INTO THAT
WORKBOOK.THATS THE REQUIREMENT

THIS .XLSX IS OPENED ON THE FLY...DONT KNOW WHICH XLSX USER WILL SELECT..SO
IAM KEEPING A MASTER .XLSB IN "XLSTART" FOLDER IN
MICROSOFT-->EXCEL-->XLSTART

THIS MASTER .XLSB HAS A CODE THAT GENERATES A CUSTOM BUTTON.(THE CODE FOR
THIS IS KEPT IN "WORKBOOK_OPEN" EVENT IN .XLSB FILE)

UPON CLICK OF THIS BUTTON..SOME VALIDATION ARE DONE ON THE SHEET(THE VBA
CODE FOR THESE VALIDATIONS ARE WRITTEN IN .XLSB FILE) AND ALSO CODE IN "THIS
WORKBOOK" MODULE OF .XLSB IS COPIED INTO "THIS WORKBOOK" OF .XLSX FILE. AND
ALL MODULES IN .XLSB FILE ARE COPIED INTO .XLSX.

FOR THIS WHOLE THING TO HAPPEN .

1) .XLSB IS LOCKED
2)WORKBOOK_OPEN OF .XLSB IS CREATING CUSTOM BUTTTON EVEN WHEN ITS LOCKD
3)VALIDATIONS ARE DONE ACCORDINGLY
4)BUT BUT THE MODULES ARE NOT GETTING COPIED INTO DESTINATION .XLSX FILE

IF I REMOVE PROTECTION THIS WHOLE THING IS WORKING FINE
BUT WITH PROTECTION AM HANGING AT POINT 4)...THAT IS MODULES NOT GETTING
COPIED..

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ COPY MODULES FORM LOCKED .XLSB FILE

2010-10-04 Thread Paul Schreiner
Why do you want to copy the macros?

I have one application that has over 37,000 lines of code (macros)
all in one protected workbook (both the workbook and VBA project are password
protected)
I run the macros which open 15 other files and operate on each one.
At no time do I copy modules into these files.

what is the requirement that makes it necessary to have the macro
reside in the xlsx file?

NEED TO UNLOCK THE XLSB COPY MACROS INTO .XLSX AND AGAIN LOCK THE .XLSB

AND ONE MORE THING THIS OPERATION OF COPYING IS TO BE DONE FROM THE LOCKED
XLSB.

AM KEEPING THE CODE IN Workbook_Open AND UPON CLICK OF THE USER COPYING HAS
TO BE DONE.

BUT HOW CAN I COPY FROM LOCKED XLSB FILE INTO XLSX FILE

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ save as cell A1 to to a specific drive - BUT excel then closes - why ?

2010-10-04 Thread Paul Schreiner
BTW:
putting this code in a BeforeSave macro will cause
the file to save itself TWICE.

(I'm surprised it doesn't get stuck in a loop)
Because:
BeforeSave means:  "Do this before saving the file".
Then: in your macro, you're saving the file!
so it does it once WITHIN the macro, and once after the macro exits.

Not a problem with a small file, bit if it's large, it will take a while.

put a breakpoint at the end and watch the file date if you don't believe me.

To keep this from happening, anywhere within the macro, put:

cancel = true

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Right click

2010-10-04 Thread Paul Schreiner
Is it in all excel files or just this one?
Do you have macros in the file?

If so, there could be a Worksheet_BeforeRightClick
or Workbook_SheetBeforeRightClick
event that includes a cancel=true line.

try creating a sub to  enable/disable events:

Public Sub Events_Enable()
    Application.EnableEvents = True
End Sub

Public Sub Events_Disable()
    Application.EnableEvents = False
End Sub

run the Events_Disable macro and try it again.

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ COPY MODULES FORM LOCKED .XLSB FILE

2010-10-04 Thread Paul Schreiner
You say in 4.)that you're copying modujles to an .xlsx file...

You cannot SAVE macros in an .xlsx file!
Microsoft created the .xlsx file format specifically so that
it would be data/formulas only.  No macros.
In order to ATTEMPT to keep malicious code from being passed
to unsuspecting users!

There are other ways to copy modules from one file to another:

'
'This macro will export all "standard" modules to a folder
'
Public Sub ExportAllMacros()
    Dim vbaModule
    Dim VBComp, tmp, Fldr
    Set vbaModule = ActiveWorkbook.VBProject.VBComponents
    Fldr = "C:\temp\modules\"

    Application.StatusBar = "Exporting all Modules..."
    Application.EnableEvents = False
    For Each VBComp In vbaModule
    If VBComp.Type = 1 Then
    ActiveWorkbook.VBProject.VBComponents(VBComp.Name).Export (Fldr
& VBComp.Name & ".bas")
    End If
    Next VBComp
    Application.EnableEvents = True
    Application.StatusBar = False
End Sub
'
'This macro will import all module files in a folder into the currently active
workbook
'
Public Sub ImportAllMacros()
    Dim File, Files, f, fso, Fldr
    Dim fndMacroflag
    Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
    fndMacroflag = True
    Fldr = "C:\temp\modules\"
    Set f = fso.getfolder(Fldr)
    Set Files = f.Files
    For Each File In Files
    If (InStr(1, File.Name, ".bas") > 0) Then
    ActiveWorkbook.VBProject.VBComponents.Import Filename:=File.Path
    fndMacroflag = False
    End If
    Next File
    If (fndMacroflag) Then
   MsgBox "Error in loading Modules."
   Exit Sub
    End If
End Sub
'

You can modify the above macros to do a single module.
then, simply use:

Workbooks("Book2").Activate
to select the workbook you want to add the macros to.

However, even though the macro module will be copied to the new file,
if it is saved in .xlsx format, the macros will NOT be saved...

Paul

$$Excel-Macros$$ Re: Budget sheet

2010-10-04 Thread anandydr
Conditional formatting is what has been used here in your budget
sheet. Select the area which you want to format. With Excel 2007
onwards you can use Jim's method in case you use older version
Conditional format is an option under Format Menu. Somehow 2007 and
newer version have a lot more options than older ones.

Hope that helps,
Anand Kumar

$$Excel-Macros$$ Re: Ayush Jain – Microsoft MVP 20 10

2010-10-04 Thread anandydr
Congrats Ayush,

Beside congratulating you on your MVP status I would also like to know
how this status is awarded. Although I've been through the website but
still the process for nomination, time i.e. for how long a MVP has
been contributing, or number/quality of post has not been very clear.
Since you are an MVP now, I believe you would be the best person to
describe these.

Warm regards and congrats again,
Anand Kumar
