 Hi,

If you do a google search for the term MS Excel VBA tutorials you will

$$Excel-Macros$$ How to hide/filter rows?

2010-12-29 Thread Walter Moser
Hello,

so i have this 1+ rows excel sheet. Each row containins a name and
a price - each in its own column. A name may appear various times.

How can i filter the rows in order to display only one row for a given
name. The one row i'd like to display is the one with the highest
price.
How can this be done in excel?

Thanks,

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Nested IF functions?

2010-12-29 Thread J D
Thanks. I have the Syntax correct now but how do I end it. I want to
write a formula that would return the right answer for the below.

if A3 500 value will be 3.5
if 500A31000 then value will be 3
if A31000 then value will be 2.5

I entered =IF(A3500,3.5,IF(500A31000,3,IF(A31000,2.5 and got
False for an answer. I want to type into A3 a s.f. number and have
the formula kick out one of the 3 or more possibilities so I can use
the correct value in the next equation.

Hope this is clearer.

Thanks

 it is if else function.
so write if and give some value if is its true and in place of else write
 another if.
if you wanna know the syntax refer help in excel. just type in IF and you will
 get everything there.

 e.g.
 =IF(A3=3,Equal,IF(A33,Less,IF(A33,Greater)))

 explaination
if A3 = 3 value wil be Equal
if A33 then value will be Less
if A33 then value will be Greater

RE: $$Excel-Macros$$ how to get month Occurrence in no.

2010-12-29 Thread Dave Bonallack

Hi,
XL is always looking for the opportunity to convert something to a date. In my
region, where we use day, month, year, and with A1 containing the word 'July':
=--(1A1)
XL reads this as the 1st day of July, then adds the current year as a default.
It returns 40360, which if the cell is formatted as date, shows 1 July 2010
Interestingly, =--(A11) also works. XL reads this as July 2001, and provides a
default day of 1, returning the same date as above.
In either event, now that XL has been provided an actual date, we can apply the
MONTH thingy, which then returns 7

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Nested IF functions?

2010-12-29 Thread Ms-Exl-Learner .
Yes it's very clear now. Try any one of the below formula which will do the
trick.

=IF(ISNUMBER(A3),IF(A31000,2.5,IF(A3=500,3,IF(A3500,3.5,))),)

OR

=IF(ISNUMBER(A3),IF(A3500,3.5,IF(AND(A3=500,A3=1000),3,IF(A31000,2.5,))),)

At the same time herewith I have attached a sample file for your reference.

 I entered =IF(A3500,3.5,IF(500A31000,3,IF(A31000,2.5 and got
False for an answer. I want to type into A3 a s.f. number and have

 Hope this is clearer.

$$Excel-Macros$$ Help for starter

2010-12-29 Thread Premal
Hi,
I am very new to VBA. I know C++.I have few questions related to Excel
programming.
1) I have two xls files Rate.xls and Bill.xls. Rate.xls file contains
two columns which has heading ItemNo and ItemRate. Now I want that in
bill.xls when I enter ItemNo and quantity then final price should be
calculated. For this I need that when I enter ItemNo it takes its rate
from Rate.xls (I mean program should search itemNo and take row number
so same number can be used to find rate from second column by giving
proper cell ref) and multiply with quantity and put final price in
next column. So how to do this?I dont need to make rate.xls visible to
user(if possible).
2)Where shound I find complete documentation of All APIs.I didnt find
good book which covers some functionalities like finding particular
value in xls file and return row or column or cell ref for that, find
first empty row and column.
3)How to use C# for excel programming. What should be installed for
this. I have visual studio 2008 and Office 2003. Apart from that what
I need to install.I heard about Office Tools, but I dont know how to
install.

If these questions are already answered then pls send me link to that
post so I can read and understand it.

I hope some expert will reply asap.

One can also send reply to premalpanc...@gmail.com
Thak you very much in advance.
