RE: $$Excel-Macros$$ Extracting data from SQL server to Excel using macro

2011-07-03 Thread Rajan_Verma
Hi,

You can retrieve the From SQL Server by Creating a connection in Excel with
SQLServer..

Data -> Get External Data -> From Other Source -> From SQL Server

Give the Server Name and all details , Excel will Create a connection
automatically with Server and take all the Data from Selected Table,

Subject: $$Excel-Macros$$ Extracting data from SQL server to Excel using
macro

Hi

I know a bit of SQL.. can write a bit of complicated query..

At work, I don't have Write right to SQL server.. because my role is to
investigate and report.

I would create a stored procedure and simply bring records I want using
'From other source' in Data tab.

But that's not possible.

What I want is

for Macro to connect to the SQL Server, then feed a query into SQL server..
and bring the result to Excel.

Is it possible?

Is there a book about it, which has some good explaining with a good
examples?? (I have been searching online for hours now)

or do I have to use .net?? (I just know very little bit about it)

any advice will be appreciated.

Ultimately, I'd like to manipulate data from SQL server further in Excel
using Macro.

My target is to make the whole process automatic.

Cheers

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Leave tracker help required

2011-07-03 Thread maulik desai
HI Vasant

Sorry for the late reply & thanks you very much for the effort,.

Like to tell you that everything is perfect except one change need to do is
that when ever Emp taken leaves continuously like say (15th June to
23rdJune ) so when I click for output it should give me only one entry
but as
per your sheet it gives me 6 entries)

In Short:

1) Whenever Emp takes continues leaves (like Mon to Thu , Tue to wed ,
Mon to Fri ) I want only one entry And *(need to modify code for this)*

2) whenever Emp absent or taken leave on fri & mon then From & to Date
will be from Fri to Mon *this is comes properly in output. (no need to
change the code)*

3) And if Emp taken leaves or diff dates then from & to dates will be
same like (13th June to 13th June) *this is comes properly in output. (no
need to change the code)*

Rest is fine

Request you to kindly make the small change & resent the file

Thanks in advance

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ help

2011-07-03 Thread ashish koul
workbook is not having any macro it contains UDF user defined function.
write =vrate(b1) in d1 and then drag down the formula. it work like excel
formula

 if you press alt + f11 and press on module 1
you can see the code

Option Explicit
Function vRate(iResult As Integer) As Variant
Select Case iResult
Case Is < 90: vRate = 0
Case Is >= 90, Is < 94: vRate = 10
Case Is >= 94, Is < 98: vRate = 25
Case Is >= 98, Is < 100: vRate = 50
Case Is >= 100, Is < 105: vRate = 75
Case Is >= 105: vRate = 100
End Select
End Function

its a user defined function not a macro
to wite a macro you have to start with "Sub " then name of macro

$$Excel-Macros$$ Re: Custom Function

2011-07-03 Thread SRemains
By working this function using debug. print (immediate window) and
studying the use of arrays, I was able to obtain the UDF I was hoping
to create. It takes a series of trade results (stock/futures/
options/...blackjack), such as -100, 500, 1500, -600 etc, and returns
the optimal fixed fraction of the next bet or wager one should take to
mathematically maximize your returns (assuming reinvestment of net
gains and a positive expectation for the system being tested) going
forward. I realized that I need a bit of work on using arrays in VB.
Here's the competed function. It could be improved by using Intersect-
Target for the range so it won't err on non-continuous ranges, but I
haven't done that yet. Hope it helps.

Option Base 1

Public Function Optimal_F(rngTradeResults As Range) As Double
'/ Re-code to use Intersect / Target so any size, non-continuous
will work
If rngTradeResults Is Nothing Then

Dim arrTradeResults() As Double
Dim TWR As Long
Dim Count As Long

ReDim arrTradeResults(1 To rngTradeResults.Cells.Count)
TWR = 1

LargestLoss =
Application.WorksheetFunction.Min(rngTradeResults)

For Each Rng In rngTradeResults.Cells
If IsNumeric(Rng.Value) = True Then
arrTradeResults(TWR) = 1 + (FVariable * (-Rng.Value /
LargestLoss))

   '/Debug.Print arrTradeResults(TWR)
End If
If TWR <= rngTradeResults.Cells.Count Then
TWR = TWR + 1
Else
TWR = rngTradeResults.Cells.Count
End If
Next Rng

Dim N As Double
Dim Product As Double

Product = 1
For N = LBound(arrTradeResults) To UBound(arrTradeResults)
Product = Product * arrTradeResults(N)
Next
ProductTWR(Count) = Product

If Count > 1 Then
If ProductTWR(Count) < ProductTWR(Count - 1) Then
Optimal_F = FVariable - 0.01

Exit Function
 End If
 End If

Count = Count + 1
Next

'/Optimal_F = FVariable - 0.01

End Function

Hello Susan,

If you just have 3 sheets, Sheet1, Sheet2 & Sheet3. use this;

=SUMPRODUCT(SUMIF(INDIRECT("'Sheet"&{1,2,3}&"'!D:D"),"C
Wagner",INDIRECT("'Sheet"&{1,2,3}&"'!E:E")))

Or,

Enter all sheet names in a range, say in J2:J3, then use this;

=SUMPRODUCT(SUMIF(INDIRECT("'"&$J$2:$J$4&"'!D:D"),"C
Wagner",INDIRECT("'"&$J$2:$J$4&"'!E:E")))

2011-07-03 Thread NOORAIN ANSARI
  Event
Procedure

*Event*- An *Event* is an action initiated either by user action or by other
VBA code.

As noted above, events are generated by:

· *The Workbook *

· *The Worksheets *

· The Application (User form)

· Charts

*Event Procedure**:-* An *Event Procedure* is a Sub procedure that you
write, according to the specification of the event, that is called
automatically by Excel when an event occurs

ByVal = *By Value* will change a value inside a Sub

By Val is Copy of Variable and not alter in originally.

ByRef = *By Reference *will Change a value globally.

*ByRef *will point to the Original Variable and represent it

*ByRef(By Default):* If you pass an argument by reference when calling a
procedure the procedure access to the actual variable in memory. As a result
the variable's value can be changed by the procedure.
*ByVal:* If you pass an argument by value when calling a procedure the
variable's value can be changed with in the procedure only outside the
actual value of the variable is retained.

   Event
For example,

(1)-Worksheet_Change
Event

Worksheet object has an event named Change.

Private Sub Worksheet_Change (ByVal Target as Range)

Application.EnableEvents = False

Target.Value = Target.Value + 1

Application.EnableEvents = True

  End Sub

(2)- Worksheet_SelectionChange

Private Sub Worksheet_*SelectionChange* (ByVal Target As Range)

Sheet1.Range(“A1”).value=12

Sheet1.Range(“B1”).value=13

Sheet1.Range(“C1”).value= Sheet1.Range(“A1”).value+ Sheet1.Range(“B1”).value

End Sub

(3). Worksheet_Activate

Private Sub Worksheet_Activate()

Sheet1.ComboBox1.AddItem ("Noorain")

Sheet1.ComboBox1.AddItem ("Pravesh")

Sheet1.ComboBox1.AddItem ("Rajiv")

End Sub

(4) Worksheet_BeforeDoubleClick

Private Sub Worksheet_BeforeDoubleClick(ByVal Target As Range, Cancel As
Boolean)

Target.Cells.Borders.Color = vbRed

End Sub

(5) Worksheet_BeforeRightClick

Private Sub Worksheet_BeforeRightClick(ByVal Target As Range, Cancel As
Boolean)

Target.Cells.Offset(1, 0) = "Noorain"

End Sub

(6) Worksheet_Calculate()

 (6) Automatic Calculation

Private Sub Workbook_Activate()

Application.Calculation = xlCalculationAutomatic

End Sub

Select Case Target.ValueCase "A"Target.EntireRow.Interior.Color = RGB(192, 192,

"C"Target.EntireRow.Interior.Color = RGB(255, 255, 0)End SelectEnd IfEnd Sub
everything is ok., but when i pull + for any cell to Repeat letter "A" for
example to fill more than on cell & automatically color fill also, it's return
an error to me, how can i avoid it??
