 Dear Amit,

you can also try through VBA..

 Sub reverse_order()
 Dim i, rw As Integer
 rw = Cells(Rows.Count, A).End(xlUp).Row
 For i = 1 To rw
 Cells(i, B).Value = Cells((rw + 1) - i, A)
 Next i
 End Sub

 See attached sheet.

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ copy data from excel to Notepad using VBA code

2012-03-21 Thread NOORAIN ANSARI
Thanks Mangesh,

Please follow this excel macro group on regular basis and
Start recording macros, and perform actions in the excel spreadsheet. The
macro recorder will record macro. A lot of the lines may be superfluous,
but you'll get a general perspective of how macro works. Slowly, you'll
learn to read and differentiate between lines that actually do the task,
and the superfluous ones.

As an example, I recorded my action. I typed in a few lines is what I did.
 Code:

Sub Macro1()

Range(B3).Select
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = _
I am recording a macro to understand what the macro recorder records.
Range(B4).Select
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = _
OK, I'll now write another text. I wonder what the macro
recorder would have recorded now.
Range(B5).Select
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = Oh well, been years since I did
something like this.
Range(D3).Select
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = _
Ok, just for the sake of it, I've scrolled to the right a bit
and moved up to cell D3, to type this text.
Range(D4).Select

End Sub

Now, a lot of those lines are superfluous. I could rewrite it like so.
 Code:

Sub Macro2()

Range(B3).Resize(3, 1).Value = _
Array(I am recording a macro to understand what the macro
recorder records., _
OK, I'll now write another text. I wonder what the macro recorder
would have recorded now., _
Oh well, been years since I did something like this.)
Range(D3).Value = Ok, just for the sake of it, I've scrolled to
the right a bit and moved up to cell D3, to type this text.

End Sub

So you see, just record macro, and eventually, the macro will teach you a
lot of the syntax. Based on your understanding of how things work, you can
then reduce the lines of code as I have did above.

Note: Since Excel 2007 Chart actions are not recorded, and I can assure you
a lot of others aren't (for reasons I do not want to pretend I know), if
you want to go the learning path by recording, I recommend Excel 97-2003,
or Excel 2010.

$$Excel-Macros$$ HELP - MACRO TO INCREMENT A COLUMN IN FOR EACH UNIQUE VALUE IN ANOTHER COLUMN

2012-03-21 Thread OJEMENI Uzoma
Good day Group,

I need some URGENT assistance with a MACRO TO INCREMENT A COLUMN IN FOR
EACH UNIQUE VALUE IN ANOTHER COLUMN. Below is how it should work;

I extracted some rows from the attached sheet *“*NBR ALL.xlsx*”*. For each*
*unique text in column C there is a corresponding unique value in column H
(Ranging from 0 to 32).

Frequently I need to add new rows like in Figure 2 – that do not exist in
“NBR ALL.xlsx “- and input in column H unique values for every unique text
in column C .For instance, I pick in column C MNB001 in table 2 and then I
look up in column H for all cells in column C in Table 1 containing MNB001
and report a unique value in column H of Table 2 (ranging from 0 to 32).

$$Excel-Macros$$ Handling Large Blocks of Text in Excel

2012-03-21 Thread Padre
I have a number of different Excel front-ends that I use to extract
information from various corporate database systems. One area of
frustration arises when I am pulling large blocks of text from various note
fields on various SQL servers.I often hit the Excel’s built in text
limits for individual cells. As a work around I starting using Excel’s
built in Text Boxes which works, however I am struggling with dynamically
resizing these text boxes. I want to keep a certain width and adjust the
length/height of the text boxes to accommodate varying amounts of text
(this is required for printouts containing various information stored in
cells + the entire text entry)
OR
If there are alternative method besides Text Boxes, I'm all ears...

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi,

I need help to find position of a particular number in a given data set. Please
refer to the table below.

Fin. Inst. Rates in %
A 10
B 11
C 12
D 11
E 6
F 9
G 8
H 8
I 9
J 7

In the above example, Rates are given for each financial institution. In
descending order, the rate 12% is at the 1st position,11% is 2nd highest and so
on. While using function LARGE or SMALL, we need to assign kth position to get
the required result.

I need to find (kth) position of given rate from the list, ignoring the
duplicate items. Going back to the above example, 11% will be the second
highest rate, 10% being the third highest rate and so on. Please let me know
the function or combination of functions.

Thank you for your help and time.

$$Excel-Macros$$ Help with VBA Macro - Law Citations

2012-03-21 Thread Leon Kalicharan
I've tried searching for the answer to this question on google, but i'm not
getting anywhere. I'm hoping some programming guru will see an answer where
i cannot.

I have a Word document that contains citations for documents. The citations
would often be between other text that is not important to resolving the
query:

Eg.
..The appeal was allowed. Subsequently the Board in Huggins v The State
*(2008) 73 WIR 420*, PC, in reviewing most of the authorities on the issue,
reiterated the need for prosecuting counsel

The area in bold is the citation.

What I want is a macro that will take the citation, put it in a format that
can be used to search an online database (I assume i'd need to know more
about how the database handles the query and if there is an API or
something, again..not very sure) and then open a browser to execute that
query.

I know that programs exist to do this very thing eg. Lexis for Microsoft
Office and LexisCheck in the UK.

Could anybody shed some light as to where I should start looking?

and time in Column B, if there is a name in column A then only date and time
will be captured in the column B, other wise it will give me a error message.
If you have the code for the same then please provide me.

  Thanks in advance.

Hello Anirut,
Please start your own thread. Putting your question in an existing thread
violates the rules and is confusing for others.
Also see if you can phrase your question more clearly when you do so - I am
unable to understand it. You might attach an example file. But in any
case, please repost in a new thread. Do not reply.
thanks,

Subject: $$Excel-Macros$$ ** FIVE YEARS COMPLETION**THANK YOU**

Dear members,

I am proud to announce that the forum has completed 5 years today. This is
really great milestone of the forum.

My sincere thanks to each one of you who keep this forum alive by asking
questions and helping others by providing solutions.

Over the last five years, I have seen decent growth in the number of posts and
quality of solutions provided by the experts here. I have learned many things
from this forum and experts.

In my view, Learning never stops and the discussion forum is the best place to
learn and share the skills.

I hardly get time to resolve the excel queries after office hours but I try my
best to moderate the forum closely. I visit the forum 2-3 times daily to
approve the messages and to check everything is ok. Please let me know the
improvements and changes you want to see in the forum. I would be happy to hear
your feedback.

Some key achievements of this forum in numbers:

1) In last 1.5 years, we have seen three people receiving the Microsoft MVP
award from this forum. This is itself a big achievement for forum and I hope to
see more deserving people get this award in future.

2) This is spam free forum and we hardly get spam messages. In last 5 years,
1000 members are banned for sending spam messages

3) We are 8400+ members with diversity in expertise, experience and location.

4) Over 7600+ topics discussed in five years

Once again many thanks and congratulations to all of you. Keep posting and
together we will achieve more milestones.
