Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Getting syntax error for a basic vba code

2014-07-24 Thread Rohan Kapuria

this code in the vba editor from a pdf...when I erased it and typed it
myself the errors went away...

Thanks for the reply!

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Liniking Pivot Tables

2012-02-01 Thread Rohan
I kind of agree with sam on this, and dont think that there is a way
by which any other pivot table will get effected by changing the value
of one pivot table. If you often apply filter on the same kind of
data, then you can always use the SLICERS in Excel, which should
definitely solve your concern.

Thanks,
Rohan.

Please excuse my delayed reply. I just tried running the code that you
provided in the attachment above. The code seems to be absolutely
fine. The only thing, that may have caused trouble, if you did not
enter the dates in the correct format. Please ensure that you enter
the date in the same format, in which its there in the sheet.

If the issues persists, you can get back to me with the error...!!
Thank you !!

So if i get you correctly this time, your question is more related to
formatting the vba code and geeting the row number for the code,
specifically and total wise.

I think you can use a software named Notepad ++. This has a option of
formatting the vba codes and also gives you the count of lines of
codes that you have.

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Conditional Formatting using named ranges

2011-12-07 Thread Rohan
Not figured out what your macro ishowever what I can suggest you
can use the Offset function to have the range of the
Conditional formating extended automatically.

Use, =Offset(A1, Counta(A:A), 0), assuming you want to apply
conditional formatting in the column A.

Put the above stated formula in the Conditonal Formatting dialog box,
where it says "Applies to"

Lemme know, if you have questions.

$$Excel-Macros$$ MS Access solution

2011-12-05 Thread Rohan
Hi,
I have a new project in hand for building a reporting solution for MS
Access. I am trying to explore the idea as to how to I go about
getting the desired results. My challange is, that the report would
require to refer to the previous day report earlier done using the
VLOOKUP formula in excel. However, the idea of using VLOOKUP function
in Access is possible or not I am not sure. While exploring some new
functions in MS ACCESS, I came accross DLOOKUP but I am not sure, if
it can produce the same results.

Group, Need your assistance with any ideas that you can share as to
how do I go about accomplishing this. If you already have worked on a
solution like this which helps in daily reporting by comparing the
value from the previous day report and if you can share the solution
with me, that will really give me ideas and would be really
appreciated. Thank you !!

Regards,
Rohan.

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ MS Access Help

2011-12-02 Thread Rohan
I tried to Import the table straight instead of making a link with MS
Access. The seems to solve the problem as most of the #N/A and #NUM
does not appear. I will try and create the query and the macro in the
imported table and see if it produces consistent results. Will get
back with the sheet incase if there is any discrepancy.

Thanks,
Rohan.

$$Excel-Macros$$ MS Access Help

2011-12-01 Thread Rohan
Hi Experts,
I have a excel file which I am trying to link with MS Access for
running some queries. The Excel file contains a VLOOKUP, where I have
tried to lookup and compare the data from a previous day report. Then
I compare that data to see if they are equal or not. I simply use
A2=B2 for this, and this returns either TRUE or FALSE. The issue is
when I link this file to MS Access, it starts giving me some #N/A,
which are not there in the Excel file, to which it is linked. So when
I query the linked table, it gives me incorrect results.

Is there some thing wrong with my procedure or it is not a good idea
to Link-import a Excel sheet with formulas to MS Access. Please guide.
Thank you !

Regards,
Rohan.

$$Excel-Macros$$ Interact with other applications

2011-11-07 Thread Rohan
Hi Guys,

Thanks for your continued efforts to keep this group running, its very
helpful and a great knowledge sharing resource.

I wanted to know, how do we go ahead about making office application
interact with other applications. I mean, legacy applications, some MS-
DOS kind of applications(which we some time even use to process orders
or fetch info for our organisations etc.). I learned that I can use
some Shell commands, but I really do not understand the difference and
the boundaries in which i can have office applications interact with
any other applications.

What i need help with is, please let me know, what kind of
applications(other than office applications), I can interact with and
in order to do that what specific branch of VBA i can use. Along with
this, if you can help me with some learning resource, that would be
kind on your behalf friends.

Thank you !
Rohan.

$$Excel-Macros$$ Re: How to use Advance filter

2011-11-06 Thread Rohan
Using advanced filter you can filter your data, as per a specific
criteria.
Advanced Filter:

List Range: Select the range that you want to filter.
Criteria Range: Select the range on the basis of which you want to
filter the data.
Unique Records only: You can select this, if you want your results to
return unique records only in the output.

I think you should try with an example to filter and see the results.
Let me know, if you have any difficulty.

Thank you !
