 Dear members,

We’d like to invite members of the discussexcel.com community to the
annual Excel and Financial Modeling World Championship 2014 Event
 (*ModelOff,
 www.modeloff.com http://www.modeloff.com*). The Advanced Excel
educational competition helps celebrate Excel in Financial Services. The
fun, challenging and innovative competition has a mission to inspire skill
development with Microsoft Excel, Financial Modeling and Financial
 Analysis
which is central to global businesses and communities. The competition
showcases some of the fastest, hard-working and talented Excel minds from
 100+ countries. Round 1 starts on 25th October 2014 (8 weeks away)

 *Summary of Event*

Over 3,000 participants competed in the ModelOff 2013 event. Major
Global Partners and Sponsors are: Microsoft, Intralinks, SP Capital IQ,
Kaplan Education, Bloomberg, AMT Training, Corality and Ernst
Young. Participants come from diverse companies and jobs – such as
Analysts, Associates and Managers at Investment Firms and Accounting
 Firms,
CFOs, Analytics Professionals, In-House Excel Gurus and Consultants with a
shared passion for Microsoft Excel and Finance. Students comprise ~35% of
all entrants worldwide – most studying Commerce, Accounting, Finance and
Masters university qualifications. The countries most represented have
typically been: United States, UK, Poland, Russia, Canada, Australia,
 India
and Hong Kong. Female participation is ~20% of all competitors -
 hopefully
higher this year (the reigning champion is Hilary Smart 26yo from London).

 *How It Works*

The ModelOff competition involves two online qualification rounds (2
hours each) conducted simultaneously around the world. The Top 16
performers are flown to New York for the Live Finals at the offices of
Microsoft and Bloomberg in early December 2014. Questions are mostly case
study and multiple choice format – with some ranging from a basic
understanding of discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis, 3-way integrated
 cash
flow models to more complex project finance and simulation
techniques. Some basic Accounting, Finance and Excel knowledge is likely
needed to progress to Round 2.

 *Free Training and Preparation*

All past questions and tests from ModelOff 2012 and 2013 are free and
available on the ModelOff website. The organizers believe in accessible
excellence and this can be a great starting point for anyone looking to
become involved for the first time and improve their Advanced Excel skills
in Financial Services and Financial Modeling. We actively encourage all
participants to visit all our community partners, bloggers, our major
global sponsors during and following the event for their own learning,
mentoring and professional development. Competitors in the Top 10% of
ModelOff 2014 will be eligible for exciting local and international
opportunities, offers from community partners and fun learning experiences
(e.g. Trips to Microsoft Excel in Redmond). We're also hosting free
networking events in major Financial Centres including Hong Kong, London,
Sydney, New York and Regional Meetups in the coming months for anyone

$$Excel-Macros$$ How to share Code/Macro ?

2014-04-26 Thread Suyog Kulkarni
Hello All,

Kindly refer attached file, I've created macro but I want to share this
macro to other users. Following are my difficulties.

1. How can I secure the code ? Kindly add password 12345 for this file.
2. To run the code I need to keep this file open but which I don't want
normal user to do ? This macro should run automatically on any pc.
3. Can I add Any additional button which would be appear along with the
exiting toolbar of excel ? so that normal use will only click that button
without headache ?

Kindly advice me.

Pl refer attached excel, I'm using one database software when I pull

 every
time. I've tried to record macro also but I don't know how to find out
last cell which contains text sometimes report may finish in F column
30th row or sometimes it cross P column 150th row.

Refer attached excel, I've added my steps, sample of original report
sample of expected report. If I got answer of this, this will increase my
productivity can save lots of time.

$$Excel-Macros$$ Need help in modification of Cell range !

2014-02-07 Thread Suyog Kulkarni
Dear All,

Kindly review attached macro which I've developed by recording. The
problem is while recording, I've consider that there would be only 100 rows
but now I'm pulling data from another engineering software which is
crossing that defined range. This macro is just adjusting the formatting
 nothing else.

My questions are follows ?
1) How to define properly so that macro will automatically adjust the
formatting till last line of text. Means whether last row is may 100, 200
or 500. ?
2) Should I need to copy this macro enabled excel in the C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\XLSTART folder ?

Kindly help me.

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ how to make a file expire after a period of time.

2013-08-05 Thread Suyog Kulkarni
Hello All,

I've reviewed all replies. Can we do following things ?

After opening excel, Sheet1 only should get open !
On sheet1, we can write that Without Enabling macro facility this
excel will not work.
Can we prepare macro which will keep all fonts cells in white color ?
I can't say, we'll keep those sheets hidden as anyone can unhide those
sheets.

If we can achieve this, that will be great.

Suyog

Hello All,

I've some questions on this.

What if we set expiry date time but macros are disabled on any PC ?
whether that person can open this file ?
Kindly review attached excel, I added similar code but while opening
that file, excel first open that particular file then ask me to enable
macro.
After enabling macro also, I can work I can make changes in this file.

Kindly refer attached file guide me. This is very useful technique for me
as we generally quote with the validity so now I can validate the whole
excel only. I would like to set my date time as expiry I'll set
password to that macro.

Thanks in advance.

Hello All,

Pl refer attached list. In this way, I'm planning to make one list of
difficult complicated formulas.
I'm planning to study about plugin-Form Controls also. I don't know about
VBA much so concentrating on remaining features of Excel.

Before starting preparation kindly advice about this thought. If anybody
already having such excel then we can use the same.

2013-01-14 Thread Suyog Kulkarni
Sam,

You understood my problem correctly. I think rather using IF, I think we
should try for scenario. I don't know much about this.
My conditions are as follows.

1) PL are applicable after 1yr service.
2) Whoever already completed 1yr he/she will get full PL
3) If somebody finishing his 12months between the leave card duration
should get PL with request to Pro-rata basis

 Suyog,

It seems that multiple conditions can be met based on certain dates. Can
you double check the variables? The conditions must be independent of each
other for a multiple IF statement to be valid.
