Take a look at the attached workbook and see if it does what you want. I

it as tab-delimited. If you have any questions let me know.

Take a look at the attached workbook. I believe it does what you want.
IAL-RD.xls serves as a template and can be re-used with any SC file as
long as the format does not change.

 To use the workbook
 (1) Launch Workbook IAL-RD.xls

 (2) Click Import SC Button and enter name/location of input SC file for
 example c:\SC.xls
A worksheet (SC) will be added and the SC data will be imported to
 it.

 (3) Click Build button
HC worksheet is populated using imported SC data
IAL worksheet is populated using imported SC data
HC worksheet is exported as a seprate workbook c:\HC.xls
IAL worksheet is exported as a text file c:\IAL.txt
Counts are filled in on Sheet1

IF you want, the completed workbook can be saved UNDER A DIFFERENT NAME.
Do not save the original workbook.

If you have any questions let me know.

  Dear Tom,

So thkful to u for your kind efforts, i really appreciate the help.

 Pls ref to some points:

1. Sheet HC needs to be generated from a macro from sheet SC and
exported in the same format in excel and saved in C drive or the desktop
(Attached file IAL-DBX9107-OCL.xls for reference).
2. Same ways the text file should be like the space delimited text
file created by saving sheet IAL – R D. I have attached a text file
(Format.txt) that can be used as guidance. The column width/no of
 characters
required in text file is marked in sheet IAL – R D from column A – Q.
The Gross wt. (column D in HC IAL R D) should contain 5
characters ( ex. 02.20 or 26.40 or 04.00 or 15.00)
3. Pls give your suggestion as to hw i can use this workbook every
time i need to use it. I mean should i copy the main sheet (SC) or the
 whole
workbook ? Cause i tried to copy to a new sheet bt it did not work. Kindly
suggest the best possible way that wud not eat up lot of space on my pc.

I really am amazed learning the tricks viewing the vba code that u put
in bt i feel i am not competent enough to ustand it fully. Pls advice if any
doubts for the above file and thanks a lot for your kind help. This will
 help me a lot.

Requesting all the wizards to pour in with their views and suggestions,

 Best regards,
 Dollar Chande
