Could you please attach one example of using the function i.e. left lookup
function using the user defined function.

The problem is with the LOCATION of your UDF.
VBA itself will look in Personal.xls and Personal.xlsb,
but the Excel worksheet is NOT.
If you had a sheet called "Sheet1" and another called "Sheet2",
and you wanted the cell B4 of Sheet1 to display the contents
of cell C10 of Sheet2, you couldn't use:
=C10 in B4, because it would show you the contents of C10
in the CURRENT SHEET.
You would have to use: =Sheet2!C10
so that Excel knows WHERE the cell is located.
the same thing applies to Functions.
the worksheet looks in standard Excel functions, then
in the functions defined in the CURRENT WORKBOOK.
but it doesn't automatically go looking in other workbooks.
What you need to do is EITHER
put the function in the workbook where you intend to use it,
or..
use the Function Wizard to add the formula to the cell.
the last category entry of the Function Wizard is "User Defined".
You'll find that the function is inserted as:
=PERSONAL.XLS!VLOOKNEW(.
