Yup.. They are being marked Private. Have the person who created the object remove the Private flags. -- Roger D. Seielstad - MCSE Sr. Systems Administrator Peregrine Systems Atlanta, GA -Original Message- From: MSExchange [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, March 28, 2002 4:25 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Problems viewing items in contacts folder Hi All. We are running Exchange 5.5 Sp4 on NT4 Sp6. I have the following situation: (1) Carol gives Stephanie owner permissions on her contacts folder. (2) Stephanie opens Carol's contacts folder on her (Stephanie's) workstation by going to the File menu, selecting 'Open other users' folder' and specifying Carol's contact folder. (3) Stephanie only sees a few of the items in Carol's folder. When Stephanie tries to create a new contact in Carol's folder, the contact is saved (because Carol can see it) but Stephanie cannot see it. This happens whether the items are single entries or if they are distribution lists. The same thing happens if Stephanie mounts Carol's mailbox in her profile on her workstation. The default view does not have any filters on it, and even creating a new view without a filter does not correct the situation. Carol is using OL2k, but Stephanie has the problem when Stephanie uses OL2k or OLXP. (Although, in XP, Stephanie can use the find a contact feature to list all the contacts in the folder, and all the items appear to be returned in the search.) Has anyone seen this before? Does anyone know of a solution or a reason why it occurs? Thanks. -- Leema _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED] _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

RE: RBDL Tools
You can use the trust level setting (assuming you are not syncing with MS Mail) to make the accounts unique The query below is used to populate a list with all of the mailbox accounts on a particular server (Exchange2) unless their trust level has been changed from the default of 20. If we have a mailbox that should not be included we change the trust (a.k.a. replication-sensitivity in LDAP speak) level to 100, but you can change it to anything other than 20. RBDL=LDAP://Exchange2/o=ORG/ou=SITE;((objectClass=organizationalPerson)(replication-sensitivity=20)(Home-MDB=cn=Microsoft Private MDB,cn=Exchange2,cn=Servers,cn=Configuration,ou=SITE,o=ORG));cn,adspath;subtree In your example below you might need to use something like (!givenname=bob) or (givenname!=bob) I don't remember the exact not syntax off the top of my head. -Original Message- From: Chris Scharff [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, March 28, 2002 10:44 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: RBDL Tools Yes, I've used it quite successfully in the past... Import of Dir entries
I exported my dir to a csv file and changed the home server name in my test lab... I imported the file and created blank mailbox's for all clients - except it didn't created mailboxs for clients who were listed in the receipents container. The users mailbox information is in the directory but no mailbox built in the priv. So when I try to send email to those clients I get the error that no mailbox exists. Is there an easy way to get those mailbox's created without removing the entries? Situation: I have been asked to configure the mail system so that we have more granular control over the sending of attachments outside the company's mail system. How about some more info such as if the Site, Org, etc remained the same or not. Have you looked at the import log? It will tell you why a mailbox could not be created if you asked it to. RE: Import of Dir entries
Just checked my import file and noticed that some of the home server changes didn't change. Can I just re-import the .csv file again with the changes. Would that mess up the other entries that already have blank mailbox's from the first import. Didn't want to populate my test lab with 60 gbs' of mail, so I decided to start with blank mailbox's by just using the dir.edb. Server names changed - so I was changing the home server name in the .csv file.. RE: Import of Dir entries
In my experience, that would work fine. During the import, you have the option to append or overwrite settings. If you re-import the entire file, and it finds a mailbox already exists, it won't re-create it for you, so no, it shouldn't mess that up for you. I also installed the first Exchange 2000 server into the same site as the Exchange 5.5. They only exist in the native mode domain and not the other domain. The Information store suppose to automatically convert them to USG.
