Subject: 4 Gig's of RAM

I have a 2000 AS with E2K with 4 Gig's of RAM, I keep getting:
The virtual memory necessary to run your Exchange server is fragmented in
such a way that normal operation may begin to fail. It is highly recommended
that you restart all Exchange services to correct this issue AND I DID.

Is there any special memory switch for WIN2K and E2K for 4 gig's of RAM?

Currently my Exchange 2000 Server has consumed most of a 36GB SCSI drive.
Therefore, what I'm looking to to is add a new 73GB or larger disk, and my
question is what is the recommended method for adding this new disk to my
existing Exchange configuration? Are there any migration utilities
available, or am I naive in thinking I can shut down the Exchange services
and perform a disk copy to the new drive?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

RE: New Blackberry Server

2003-02-04 Thread Bolser_Scott
Yes. 3.5 still needs an exchange mailbox to connect to, but in reality you
can setup one bes (3.5 allows for multiple bes services to run on a single
server which means you can cram more users on a single bes) and have
different users from different exchange sites on that one bes. The old
version (2.1 and below) you needed to install exchange add-ins (which added
the blackberry tab to a mailbox) so it was site specific. 3.5 and above,
you do not need to do that.

On the older version, didn't you have to select an exchange server during
the installation? This version you don't have to correct? You should be
able to setup this new version in a central installation point and add users
from multiple remote sites. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.

I would expect that is still the case. I'm actually waiting on upgrade
pricing for it right now. IIRC, 3.5 (the new version) offers remote address
book support - which is a huge benefit.

RE: attxxxxx.dat attachments when sending to Lotus Notes

This has to do with Outlook rich text formatting and Lotus notes not being
able to read the rich text format. Have users use either HTML or plain text

avoid that problem). There is an article that explains more, I'll have to
find it though and post it.

simplicity of their setup. I'm wondering if it's worth taking the risks
involved with MSW, so I'm leaning towards just exmerging the entire org out
of simplicity, and wondered what some of you thought. Here's a rundown of
the collapsing infrastructure:

2 sites, single server in each.
300 mailboxes in one, 200 in the other IS sizes of 7 and 5 gigs No public
folder usage worth worrying about No custom or third party apps interfacing

Our Exchange server crashed, and we are now running on a temporary server,
w/ manually created accounts.

Unfortunately, the new accounts are not the ones that created the OST files,
and therefore we cannot get at the information in them. Stuff like
calendars and contacts are inaccessible until (and if) the backups can be
restored.

In the meantime, is there a tool MS or third-party, that can read an OST
file?

I tried renaming to to .pst in the hope that they used the same format, but
to no avail.

TIA

I was tasked with the following and need some help finding the answers.

I need to be assured that when an item is deleted from a mailbox, it is
really gone. We currently have the dumpster feature enabled which I plan to
disable. My question is, if a mail item is deleted and the dumpster is
turned off, is the item really unrecoverable? If it is recoverable, how can
I change our configuration so that it is unrecoverable? Is that even
possible? Could someone reconstruct that data in any way even though it has
been deleted?

On a side note, I know that backups play into this and that will be
addressed later.

Thanks everyone

Or in the case of this year's upcoming conference, they will have to wear
mouse ears during MEC.

If the Mac users don't go to the Keynotes, they'll be empty.

Especially the morning after the Compaq party.

Yes, but you can't have any beverages and must attend the
keynote sessions 38 minutes late every time.

Had a local user send a message out this morning to a Mailing List. Open
the message being sent, the sender received a message from the System
Administrator for the DL, and each individual user. The NDR is stated
below.

ESIT Team on 12/18/01 7:41 AM
The message was undelivered because the specified recipient postal
address was incorrect
MSEXCH:MSExchangeIS:FINLAY-NATION:MAIL-MO-1

Any help would be greatly appreciated in helping me get an understanding as
to why this happened. My exchange servers are NT 4.0 SP 6a, Exchange 5.5
sp4

It is called the Microsoft Outlook Nickname Utility. I downloaded it from
the link that previous poster had given. Either search the archives, or
wait for someone who knows the link to post it. Scott.

I believe that someone posted a utility that would let you edit the file
Outlook stores those in. Try searching the archives...it was about a month
ago.

I have an employee whom misspelled the email address she was sending an
email to, and of course it came back.

But thanks to Outlook 2002, now when starts typing the correct email
address, it pops up with a box with the correct email and the incorrect
email - the incorrect is first in the list.

Is there a way/where, that I can delete that incorrect email address?

It doesn't appear in her contacts.

The email in question was [EMAIL PROTECTED] and the incorrect
was [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thanks
