RE: AV/Spam scanning services
I'm considering going with an outside SPAM/AV company. However, my manager feels that we don't need to put AV on our Exchange server if we do...so I am considering going just with AV/SPAM on our Exchange server and keeping everything in house. I was considering using MX Logic Defense Level 3 and using Antigen on Exchange server. I can't convince him that both would be the way to go...both meaning SPAM/AV outside and AV on Exchange. Now, I am considering just Antigen with the SPAM agent added to it. Anyone got any good points about having both SPAM/AV outside and AV on Exchange that I can bring up to my boss so he can see the added value? His points were...you mean they won't be able to do it as well as we can...then we need to not use them! Thank you, Ron Crumbaker, MCP -Original Message- From: Michael Brownell [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, August 05, 2003 9:41 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: AV/Spam scanning services I see the outsourced AV as another layer that gives me greater defense in depth (I have Trend on every platform). Also their use of multiple and different AV scan engines gives me another (admittedly small) edge. I'll take whatever edge I can get, having been hosed by Iluv you and Funlove. One of my concerns about using this type of service is latency. How much longer does it take a message to get through? Are any of the vendors better or worse in this regard? Scanning at the gateway (in-house or outsourced) can be a valid additional level of protection. A significant number of our customers use some form of gateway scanner[1] in addition to their server and desktop based AV solutions. [1] MessageLabs, MailSweeper, Trend's Instercan, et al. Personally, I'm not a fan of outsourced anti-spam, but that's in part because we're a heavily email dependent company and so we can justify the expense of in house measures to combat those issues. As a side note - outsourced antivirus doesn't save money - you still need to have an inhouse AV product for email, because scanning at the gateway isn't enough. _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchanget ext_mode=lang=english To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED] _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchangetext_mode=; lang =english To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED] _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchangetext_mode=; lang=english To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED] _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchangetext_mode=lang=english To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Email Limits
OK, I need some help. I have been looking for a setting in Exchange 2k, and I can't seem to find it. I am looking for the setting that limits the number of mail one person can send out to another single mailbox. What I am trying to do: My HR Department posted a job online and have gotten a lot of responses through emails to one mailbox. He is wanting to forward 1/3 of the mail two other mailboxes so he doesn't have to screen all the emails himself. However, when I created a rule in Outlook to forward the mail to the other mailboxes, it is only sending out 20. I want to send out 200 from one mailbox to the other mailbox. Or, if you have another solution that will work for me, I am open for suggestions. RE: MEC
Yes. Still on. Here is what I got from them: September 11 was a day of shock and sadness for people around the world. Our hearts go out to all those who have been affected by this terrible tragedy. As you know, President Bush and other global and national leaders urged that the business and economic activities of this nation and the global economy must continue, even as we all work together to address the terrible human costs of the September 11th tragedy. The reopening of the financial markets is just one step in resuming the economic activities of our nation. After long consideration, we have decided to move forward with the MEC 2001 in Orlando, Florida, on September 30th through October 4th as scheduled. Based on input from travel industry and government officials, we strongly believe that national and international air transportation, hotels and other support services will be fully operational before the MEC 2001 conference opens. All MEC 2001 keynotes, sessions, functions and special events will take place as scheduled. We are working closely with state and local authorities to ensure every possible security measure is in place. All of us at Microsoft are keeping the victims of this tragedy in our thoughts and prayers. We hope to see you in Orlando as we carry on our lives full of pride in our values and our country. RE: Help with Undeliverable
The new exchange server was installed in our domain. Our Exchange 5.5 server was OFF the network, in a closest. Never brought online during or since the installation of 2000. Our new Org Name is MPDINC on E2K. ForestPrep and DomainPrep was ran on the E2k machine. Did someone use your production AD for testing of E2K betas at any point? The only way I could see that not generating an error during Exchange setup would be if someone had run forestprep and/or domainprep with a version of E2K prior to RC2. Did this ever work? When and how was this new Exchange 2000 install completed exactly? [1]So I double checked, and it is... Yes, it happens on all replies of anyone internal to our system. Is this a server added to an existing organization or a pristine E2K install? How was the original message addressed? Is this happening with all replies? * Chris Scharff[EMAIL PROTECTED]www.swinc.com Simpler-Webb, Inc.
