Exchange Limits

2003-11-03 Thread Doug Schaible

Exchange 2000 SP3

Any suggestions on setting size limits on both the SMTP virtual server and
on idividual mailboxes? I had originally set a 4mb limit on the SMTP and
200mb limit mailboxes, which no one complained about for 4 years. Some
"select" staff complained and corporate had me remove both limits.

I'm looking for ammunition to bolster my case to reinstate the limits. Do
any of you use these settings, if so where do you set them?

Thanks for your help!

Re: ??? on outlook folders

2003-10-01 Thread Doug Schaible

Its a language pack issue.

I support both english and japanese users and I see this whenever I open a
japanese user's mailbox on a machine that doesn't have the east asian
character sets.

Make sure you have the correct locales loading in Exchange and that each
client has the appropriate language packs on their OS.

One careful note, it's possible have the ??? written back to the Exchange
IS so that even a user with the correct language sees only ???
Unfortunately I haven't been able to determine how this happened yet.

Exchange 2k & Domain Controllers

2003-07-15 Thread Doug Schaible

I have an Exchange 2000 Server that also happens to be a domain
controller. At one time this was required because this site only had two
servers and we needed a backup domain controller. Now the site has
additional servers and there's no need for Exchange to sit on domain
controller, besides this isn't the most preferable configuration.

Does anyone know of a way of removing the domain controller attributes
from the box without destroying the entire setup and rebuilding from
scratch? I'd like to retain the server name if possible.

The server is running Windows 2000 SP3 and is a domain controller in our
domain which is running in native mode. It's also running Exchange 2000
SP3 and Post SP3 Security rollup package, also running in Exchange's
native mode.

Thanks in advance!
