Subject: Default folders in Exchange

User Group

Exchange 2000 SP2
Outlook 2000 SR1

I have a user who has their drafts folder below the deleted items folder and
their inbox below the drafts folder. Can any one tell me how I can get these
folders back at the root level of the users mailbox. This is not the first
time that this has happened and am wondering what would cause this problem.
I can't see this as a user error.

Deleted Items\Drafts\Inbox

Actions:

1. Look on TechNet
2. Use Exchange 5.0 Client to try and move the folders back
3. Run Outlook.exe with /ResetFolders
4. Moving the users mailbox in the past did not cure the problem

I know as a last resort I can export the users mailbox out into a pst and
recreate the mailbox.

Constructive comments would be very much appreciated.

Also related:

If you signed up for Hotmail - or anything else that uses Passport more
than a couple of months ago, you may be in for a big surprise. It seems that
Microsoft changed the rules while you weren't looking. Unilaterally,
Microsoft may have granted itself permission to pass along your personal
information to other companies that use
Passport on their Web sites.
The personal information includes your email address, your birthday, your
country and zip code, your gender and occupation.
Has Microsoft taken liberties with your data? There's an easy way to check.

Go into Hotmail and log into your account.
Click Options (to the right of the tab that says Address Book).
Click Personal Profile (in the upper left corner). Scroll down to the bottom
of the screen and see whether the boxes marked Share my e-mail address and
Share my other registration information have been checked.
UNCHECK THESE!!

Those boxes didn't exist when most people currently signed up for Hotmail,
and chances are
pretty good they didn't exist when you signed up for it, either. I certainly
never gave Microsoft permission to hand out my email address - or my
birthday, gender or occupation. Yet both of those boxes on my personal
profile were
checked. I bet they're checked on your personal profile, too. Worth
checking!

Pretty much as I understand the latest theory of bee flight but put much
better than I could have done. But it does prove that the formula
presented by Jennifer may not hold true for everything that flies.
However, is a deflated bird flying or just a projectile being shot from
some device?

Coming back to bees it is with great sadness to know that at least the
humble bumble bee in Britain is reducing in numbers, no more honey for
us!

Subject: RE: Was: Question from a troll to a Yoda - Now: RFC Question

Obviously bumble bees do fly but no fixed wing study in a conventional
wind tunnel has shown how enough lift can be generated to lift the huge
mass of a bumble bee (compared to its wing size). A wide range of
studies have been done in recent years to try to understand the bee's
unique method of flying.

Insects like the bee do not flap their wings up and down as one might
think. The movement of their wings is forward and backward. Lay your
right hand on the table (palm down) and move it to the left. That is
what the bee does as the first part of its wing beat. This movement
produces lift because your hand produces the same effect as an airplane
wing. Air moving over the top produces a low pressure because of the
greater curvature, a principal known as Bernoulli's principal. Now flip
your hand over (palm up) and return it to its original position.

Computer studies shown that the timing of the flip is critical. The wake
of the forward stroke allows the wing to recapture energy as the wing is
moved back. There is a surge of forces on the wing as this happens which
provides great lift at minimal energy. Dr. Adrian Thomas of Oxford
University says, The whole system is a lot more complicated than we
thought. A lot remains to be done to understand this, but the
maneuverability and efficiency of it indicates man needs to understand
to improve his own methods of flying.

To suggest that such systems come about by chance strains credibility to
the limit. The enormous complexity of the motion, the design of the
wings to do the flying, and the support system that moves the wing all
speaks of highly planned and designed structures that we still do not
totally understand.

Does that answer your question?

AFAIK, this infected message didn't come from me. It has my return address,
but as you can see, the sending server is mail.stadacona.ca.

We block all executables at the server, and I started getting bounce
messages about an hour before I was even in the office.

Also, nobody I've every actually email directly has bounced me a message,
and I'm not seeing any outbound port 25 traffic from any machine other than
my mail server.

Can anyone confirm that this virus forges return addresses? The antiviral
vendors appear to be behind on this one...

I received an E-mail from a person that I didn't know this morning, and the
subject line was a lot of nonsense characters. Using Outlook 2000 I
highlighted it and it kicked off the attachment, which opened Media Player

Here is the header from the message as it was received. Anyone have any

The sky will burn at forty-five degrees.
Fire approaches the great new city...
In the city of York there will be a great collapse,
2 twin brothers torn apart by chaos
while the fortress falls the great leader will succumb
third big war will begin when the big city is burning

use a rule wizard as in outlook.

the rule is to forward all messages to the nominated user.

I knew my response would get some responses. Haven't had my caffeine.
Well, since I don't drink anything with it, it's a moot
 point. Anyway, my
point was that Erik said that requests are added in the next
 version. But
MS has regularly added features with service packs
 (journaling, IMS domain
blocking instead of just by IP, Mailbox manager, etc.), but
 not the ability
to modify the storage limits message. So my response was
 simply that not
all requests are honored, since the ability to modify the message via
registry entries or GUI were certainly possible if they chose
 to do so.
There certainly have been a lot of requests over the years for that
functionality, and to offer it only through a sink in 2000
 seems kind of a
 let down.

Hello all,

I have a Microsoft Exchange server 5.5 sp4, latest fixes running on
Windows2000 sp1 server. I have built it in the same way as all my other
servers in the same site though they are all on Windows NT, not 2000.
Problem is that if I go to a pc where there is a profile for a user and
logon as someone else, i.e. not that user, we can read that users mail. It
doesn't matter who logs on, we can all read the person's mail! It is not an
isolated case, it happens with all mail accounts on this server, but not on
any other servers.
What am I missing? THe mailboxes look just the same as all those in the
rest of the site. Is there some security thing about 2000 that I am unaware
of?
If I try and do an open other users folder, that does not work, it seems
only to be when you are on a machine that has a profile for mailboxes on
this particular server.
Help, this is not good,

many thanks

Subject:blocking internet access (OT)

Thanks for those that read this even though its OT. It's a quickie...
I need to block access to the internet from my pc, but be able to use it
when *I* want to. ( Parent kid issue).
Zone alarm would be perfect, but if I use it to do not allow IE to access
the internet, all that needs to be done is open ZA, and click allow it.
If ZA could be password protected it would be perfect. Anyone have a link or
suggestion? Does Programs like Net nanny do this or just limit WHERE they
can go?
Thanks!
Ron
