Delay on incoming SMTP email

2003-08-14 Thread Phil Thomas
Hi All,

I'm not sure if this issue started when we moved our SMTP connector from Ex5.5 to E2K
but I have noticed that incoming SMTP email is delayed until an outgoing email is
processed. E2k queues are always 0. I'm thinking that this might be an issue with the
implementation of MailMarshall but I don't have anything to give our MailMarshall
support guy, so if anyone has experienced this before I'd appreciate your feedback.

Thanks in advanced.

Cheers,
Phil

RE: Users managing Distribution List membership

2003-07-17 Thread Phil Thomas
Hi All,

FYI: Didn't get any replies so I rang PSS to see if it's going to be resolved.
Apparently not this is an informational only field strange as it appeared to
work in mixed mode...but then again maybe that was using Ex 5.5.

Cheers,
Phil

 Hi All,

Since migrating to Exchange Server 2000 SP3 Native mode any newly created mail
enabled groups can't be managed by an Owner (Managed by). Q281489 has a work
around but this is a little tedious as a long term solution and was hoping for a
better solution if anyone has one or if this might be fixed in the next SP.

 Thanks in advanced,

Removing unsuccessful install of Exchange Server 2000

2003-04-02 Thread Phil Thomas
Hi All,

We'd like to remove an unsuccessful installation of our first Exchange
Server 2000 SP3 completely from Active Directory due to a failed migration
of our Exchange 5.5 server . We've read article Q273478 and that sounds like
what we should be doing but it notes that The following instructions are
not supported in a production environment. This is our production
environment so I'd appreciate any advice from anyone that has used or read
this article before going ahead.

Thanks in advance,
Cheers,
Phil

Thanks Ed,

It's either Q273478 or ADSIEdit and remove Exchange Server 2000 objects as
far as I can tell. We'll be looking further but thanks for you input.

Cheers,
Phil

-1018 error point towards hardware errors on the server. Make sure you
have the latest bios, drivers and firmware for your hardware and contact
the HW vendor for additional support if needed.

We're currently testing our planned migration from Ex 5.5 SP4 to EX 2000

in our test lab. After moving mailboxes from EX5.5 to Ex2000 we get
 -1018
errors with On-line defrags etc, tried eseutil to repair but this made
things worst and we couldn't mount the store. Did the test migration
 again
and still have -1018 error on the EX2000 server so we move the mailboxes

back to Ex 5.5 server and all On-line defrag test pass on the Ex 5.5
 server.

I'm thinking disk errors on the EX2000 server but all test have passed
 here
apparently. Has anyone experienced this issue with the Private
 information
store becoming corrupt with mailbox move to Ex2000?

We are using Exchange 5.5. sp/3, when mailboxes are moved to a new server
does the users outlook profile need to be changed, we have 525 users? I
have heard that the server name in outlook don't have to be changed .

Run the resource kit utility Cleansweep and delete all

one that doesn't have a name associated with it, and that's
  the delegate
   rule.

Exch 5.5 w/sp4 on NT4.0
OL2000

UserA assigns UserB delegate permissions with meeting request
notification, UserB decides to seek greener pastures and
  leaves the
company, UserB's exchange account gets deleted.

Now... anyone sending a meeting request to UserA gets an NDR
re: cannot
deliver to UserB as the recipient name is not recognized.
   Even though
UserB is no longer a listed delegate for UserA.

Seems as though Exch is orphaning delegates and perhaps I
  will have to
actually remove Delegate rights prior to removing exch accounts.

Has anyone seen this or found a nice happy way to deal with this?

Thx!
