RE: Auto Accept Utility stopped working

2003-06-30 Thread Sargent, Rob
(If we have the same setup).. In the 5.5 Admin console, expand Folders,
System Folders, and Events Root. There should be a folder in there called
EventConfig_servername for the server that the mailbox resides on. Open the
Properties of that folder and on the General Tab click the Client
Permissions button. Add the mailbox and give it Owner rights.

So again, ensure the autoaccept script is uninstalled, do the above steps,
reinstall the autoaccept script, and ;-) it's supposed to work.

What did you mean by the mailbox needs owner rights? I did as you
suggested, but it still didn't work.
I created a new resource and scheduled them both at the same time. The new
resource worked, but the old one didn't.

Wow.. This is confusing!! Sorry.

Right. I was going to recommend being sure to uninstall the old event
script first as well.

(FYI the mailbox needs Owner rights.) So if the EventConfig permissions are
set, reinstall the AutoAccept script on the mailbox and you should be able
to test it immediately. If that doesn't work, try stopping and starting
the Event service again and retest.

Hi Mike. Have you set up the client permissions for the mailbox in the
EventConfig folder? I've forgotten to do that on occasion. And I think
I learned the hard way that if this step was missed, you need to uninstall
the Autoaccept script again, set up the EventConfig settings, then reinstall
the script.

Ed,

Thanks. I thought that was the case, so I deleted the AutoAccept folder on
the resource. I then ran the AutoAccept utility script on that new resource.
I checked the event Service and it was running. Nothing happened.

I then stopped and started the service again. To no avail. Nothing

OOF replies to the Internet

2002-03-04 Thread Sargent, Rob

Though we'd never open automatic replies to the Internet, in reading some of
the discussions in the archives it appears some don't see a problem with
allowing OOFs to the Internet. How does this work to avoid mail loops?
...does it just send one reply per sender, in the same way it works
internally?

Also, I'm assuming that the "auto-reply to the Internet issue" remains the
same for Exchange 2000 as in 5.5 = BAD. True?

Thanks!

Hello.

I'd like to do a quick survey if I may...and thank anyone for taking the
time to respond.

I'd like to know the ratio of Exchange Support personnel to number of end
users on the system, or total servers supported.

Do you feel you have adequate resources with this ratio?

Thank you.

Yes, Lori Hunter must have the day off or she would be right in here :)

{Playing the part of Lori Hunter in tonight's performance will be Ken

In short, DON'T ALLOW DIRECT BOOKING IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE THE AUTOACCEPT
SCRIPT Allow ONLY Reviewer access if they need to get into the calendar.
If they complain, tell them that they can not have it both ways and to stop
whining.

{How did I do Lori?}

I just got finished fighting this last week. This has been discussed at
quite some length in the last couple of weeks. A search on "auto accept"
should lead you to it.

The following TechNet articles will show you what I needed to do to correct
it. Q281935 and Q289606.

This past weekend I stumbled across a piece of information that stated that
users should not be allowed to view a resources calendar by doing a "File /
Open / Other User's Folder" as it could break the auto-acceptance and cause
corruption. This bit of info also included steps to prevent this from
happening while leaving the remaining functionality intact.

The problem is... I can't remember where I seen this info. I have gone
through the FAQ, the archives, and TechNet, but am unable to re-locate this
info. Would anyone have a clue as to what I'm referring to and point me in
the right direction? I would greatly appreciate it.

RE: Calendar of user causes hanging

2001-09-14 Thread Sargent, Rob

Hi! Any known issues with applying this patch? - i.e. post-SP4 patch for
CDO (Q281935). We're having the same problem with recurring meetings on a
Boardroom Calendar which runs the AutoAccept script.

Also, much thanks to Brian (below) for the hint on checking for corruption
in the Calendar via OWA .. this helped a great deal!

its most likely a recurring meeting...

and q281935 points to a hotfix that you should install (post SP4) to prevent
it from happening again... this is the CDO 1.21 update

It's the corrupt meeting that's causing the problem. All you have to do
is use OWA to access this person's calendar and delete the corrupt
calendar item.
