RE: Drafts Arriving in Inbox
Bill, Thanks for the reply. No rules are set for this user either on client or server side. My money's still on the PDA's as one of the Desktop guys suggested that when they use Bluetooth if it can't connect it hunts for another device. I'm also checking if we have an old version of Outlook as Inbox was the default location for Drafts with OL97. regards Phil -Original Message- From: Bill Kuhl [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 07 July 2003 18:36 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Drafts Arriving in Inbox Could it be as simple as having set a rule incorrectly in Outlook on the client side? One of our users received 8 messages into his Inbox all as draft messages from 8 different people. The originators have been identified by their signatures and I have looked in the various logs but other than their sudden appearance in the Inbox nothing has been logged. As a result my suspicion is that it is client related, and at one time we wondered if the cause may be related to the fact that these users have PDA's and are using Bluetooth, however, not all the originator's have this. At the moment its only happened to one user, but its strange enough that I sought the advice and experience of the list. Any information on this would be great. regards Phil _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchange&text_mode=&lang =english To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED] _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchange&text_mode=&lang =english To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED] _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchange&text_mode=&lang=english To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thanks to everyone for their replies. I was worried in case the pattern was not doing its job. We've got inbound from the Internet covered but have the same problem as everyone else in that users don't do as they are told! Thanks again. -Original Message- From: Chris Scharff [mailto:chris_scharff@;messageone.com] Sent: 12 November 2002 16:24 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Virus heads up Right... but there's nothing for an e-mail server to catch/filter since all that is transmitted is a URL and the luser has to download said exe from a web browser. > -Original Message- > From: Blunt, James H (Jim) [mailto:jhblunt@;bhi-erc.com] > Sent: Tuesday, November 12, 2002 10:03 AM > To: Exchange Discussions > > True enough, but due to customer feedback, Symantec has added this spam > tactic to their virus definition files and you can no longer install this > .exe file on a machine that is the running the current version of Symantec > Anti-Virus with the current definition files. > > > -Original Message- > From: Chris Scharff [mailto:chris_scharff@;messageone.com] > Sent: Tuesday, November 12, 2002 7:40 AM > To: Exchange Discussions > Subject: RE: Virus heads up > > > Um... there's no virus sent via e-mail, thus Scanmail has nothing to > clean. > > > -Original Message- > > From: Young, Phil [mailto:phil.young@;wcom.co.uk] > > Sent: Tuesday, November 12, 2002 8:55 AM > > To: Exchange Discussions > > > > Hi, > > Has anyone successfully cleaned this virus using Trend Scanmail. RE: Virus heads up
OK so the pattern is just protecting us from the other actions that take place if someone clicks on the URL, and the WORM_FRIENDGRT.B is not really a virus? I am happy to delete these messages but some users still ignore the warnings we have given and it starts sending messages which I would have hoped would be caught by the pattern file. -Original Message- From: Chris Scharff [mailto:chris_scharff@;messageone.com] Sent: 12 November 2002 15:40 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Virus heads up Um... there's no virus sent via e-mail, thus Scanmail has nothing to clean. > -Original Message- > From: Young, Phil [mailto:phil.young@;wcom.co.uk] > Sent: Tuesday, November 12, 2002 8:55 AM > To: Exchange Discussions > > Hi, > Has anyone successfully cleaned this virus using Trend Scanmail. RE: Virus heads up
Hi, Has anyone successfully cleaned this virus using Trend Scanmail. We are running Trend 3.52 in AVAPI mode with pattern 382 and I am yet to see it successfully clean the virus. Are there any specific settings I should set in Scanmail? Thanks in advance. Brent, If you stop Scanmail can you read the mails then or do you still have the problem?
