Directory Replication Connector
Dear all, In our Exchange 5.5 network we use to have a hub side X that was connected to another hub site Y (Old situation). We decided to redirect the spoke side W X400 connector from side X to side Y to make side X a spoke in stead of a hub side. In the current situation the old side W directory replication connector is still connected to side X. This connector needs to be redirected to site Y. To create the new situation, the old directory replication connector connecting site W with site X needs to be deleted (step 1). Next (step 2) a new directory replication connector needs to be created between site W and side Y. Does anyone have experience with this kind of actions? Any tips? What are the negative side effects? Are there any articles about it? Many thanks in advance, Olivier === Old situation - DirRepConDirRepConDirRepC Site W --- Site X --- Site Y - Site Z (spoke) --- (hub) --- (hub) - (spoke) X400 Con X400 Con X400 C Current situation - ¡ Site X | (spoke) D| D||X i| i||4 r| r||0 R| R||0 C| C||C Site W £ Site Y (spoke) --- (hub) X400 Con ^^ D||X i||4 r||0 R||0 C||C VV Site Z (spoke) New situation - Site X (spoke) D||X i||4 r||0 R||0 DirRepCon C||C Site W --- Site Y (spoke) --- (hub) X400 Con ^^ D||X i||4 r||0 R||0 C||C VV Site Z (spoke) _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
RE: Directory Replication Connector
Stuff disappears from the GAL for a while til replication completes... and some mail could be undeliverable during that time. It's something I'd try to do during off hours for certain. -Original Message- From: Olivier de Heer [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, June 14, 2002 5:37 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Directory Replication Connector Dear all, In our Exchange 5.5 network we use to have a hub side X that was connected to another hub site Y (Old situation). RE: Directory Replication Connector
Thanks Chris. I was aware of that and will do the operation over the weekend. It will involve several connections (8) in stead of only 1 as listed in my first post. Any more negative side effects that you know? We also want to bring all servers onto the same patch level implementing SP4 and some post SP4 fixes. One server being a cluster. Any experience in updating an NT4 EX5.5 cluster? Many thanks again, Olivier _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
RE: Directory Replication Connector
I have lots of theoretical and secondhand experience in upgrading Exchange clusters. Other than the technet type gotchas, I'm not aware of any common ones. I'd stage these two changes, so that you can isolate cause and effect to any issues that pop up. -Original Message- From: Olivier de Heer [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, June 14, 2002 10:14 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Directory Replication Connector Thanks Chris. After you delete a Directory Replication Connector
Hi All, We have have 5 * MSX5.5 Sp3 Servers in one site director named X (one group, one location). The main server within in this site director named X had a x.400 connector / directory replication to another main overseas site name Z, we deleted the Directory Replication and x.400 on both sites X Z. On site X we still have the other sites objects (global address list). We will like to remove the previous sites objects in the global address list. We have tried to run check knowledge consistency recalculate routing on all servers and still the previous site objects do not disappear. All help will be appreciated. RE: After you delete a Directory Replication Connector
Did you remove the exchange servers from the site z? You may get the results you need if you follow the directions described in this article: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q189/2/86.ASP -Original Message- From: Rob [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, October 26, 2001 6:54 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: After you delete a Directory Replication Connector Hi All, We have have 5 * MSX5.5 Sp3 Servers in one site director named X (one group, one location).
