Frigging Lyris... Delete the users and the views will go away automatically. Views only exist for the criteria for which they were created. When valid objects fit the criteria there is no way to remove the object other than deleting the objects which meet the criteria or changing the criteria. -Original Message- From: suriya suriya suriya [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Posted At: Monday, June 02, 2003 1:12 AM Posted To: swynk Conversation: RE: Deleting Global address book Subject: Re: RE: Deleting Global address book All receipents of those unused servers. Re: Global Address Book Views after migration
Hi All, Took a long time for that message to make the board. I posted yesterday morning. I found a solution to the issue(On the MS support site no less)and wanted to share it with you just in case you run into this. Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - Q277717 describes how to change the display names of Active Directory users with Active Directory Services Interface Script. It provides the script as well. Have a great day! Global Address Book Views after migration
Good Morning, Subscribed forever, but never post... I am migrating from e5.5 to e2k. Migrating to a completely different domain tree on the 2k side. All brand spanking new. Servers on NT4.0/Ex5.5 side are all nt 4.0 running sp6. The Exchange 5.5 server is at Exchange SP4. Win2k side - All W2k Servers SP3, E2k-SP3. ADC and ADMT are latest and greatest versions. ADC works like a champ. All usernames from the 5.5 side are created as contacts in the correct AD container. BUT...and there always is one...Once I go and actually migrate the user (SID, Account, Mailbox to E2k), I can't for the life of me get the Global address list (Or AD alone for that matter) to display the username in a Last, First format. I have run through Q250455 - how to change display names... and Q269843 - ADC overwrites display name. No change (although my "original" AD users all display correctly now). Any ideas? Thanks. I'm looking for advice on how to allow users to add/remove/modify addresses in the Global Address Book. There are only about 10 users on the server, but we have hundreds of external (SMTP, FAX, etc) addresses that they need to ability to maintain. We also need the ability to add/remove/modify distribution lists. We are running Windows 95/98 on their desktops, it is a small office and we don't have plans to put Windows 2000/XP on their desktops. I'm not aware of an Active Directory administration tool for Windows 95/98 (if there is one, that would make this easy). I was hoping we could just use the Outlook client to create/modify addresses/distribution lists, but that doesn't appear to be an option with the GAL. Right now we have a 'mish-mash' of address books: Personal Address Books, Individual Outlook Contact Folders, Shared Contact Folders (public folders) and the Global Address List. When addressing messages we have to choose from one of the five places where addressess are stored. We would like to have all addresses maintained in the Global Address List, but then we need a way to administer it from our desk without too much work (and without having Windows 2000 Pro on our desktops). Any pointers would be great. Not likely to have any admin tools for Win9x products. That's not to say there aren't as I haven't looked into it. Two separate questions: 1. Getting OL to connect to Exchange through the firewall. Not a good solution anyway since poking holes in your firewall defeats its purpose. VPN is a better solution. 2. Getting the GAL visible to external users.
