Re: E2K-cannot see users from child domain in GAL

2002-04-02 Thread James Bambrough

Hi,

Please see inserts and let me know!

Cheers.

James.

We have built the following test structure:

  Two Win2K domains - ua.lucent.com, test.ua.lucent.com, one site
(default). GC was configured in each domain. DomainPrep was run in
both domains. Exchange 2000 on member server was placed into
  ua.lucent.com
Are you running in Native or Pre-Windows 2k Mode on the OS and
Exchange??

When I am creating mailbox for a user from child domain
test.ua.lucent.com the wizard works fine but I can't see the user in
GAL and Outlook client can't resolve the name.
Can you connect to the parent domain from the child, and create
a new user, and vice-versa?
  I can't also see him
  among mailboxes in Server Manager.
have you tried sending a test mail to this user - you won;t see
the mailbox until items are in it!
Everything works fine for users
from ua.lucent.com. What possibly could be wrong or misconfigured?

  Thanks and regards,

For any domain in which no Exchange 2000 servers will exist, you need to
manually create a Recipient Update Service under Recipients- Recipient
Update Service in ESM.

RE: E2K-cannot see users from child domain in GAL

2002-03-28 Thread Mark Harford

You won't see the mailbox in ESM until it has been logged onto or has rec'd
mail.

You'll need a Recipient Update Service configured for each domain with
mail-enabled users.

Also were all GCs rebooted after promoting to GC status so that Outlook can
use the NSPI proxy? ensure the Infrastructure FSMO server for each domain
are on non-GC DCs.
