Title: RE: Limiting a Mailbox to internal communication only.

I have a question...

We have Exchange 5.5, before I got here it was determined that only certain people should be able to send mail outside of our system. The way they limited people was by removing the SMTP address entirely. We would get errors on our MailSweeper gateways, but it was set up to automatically disregard all x.400 messages.

My question is... I know that With Exchange 2000 SMTP is the core transport system. If users don't have an SMTP address can they still send/receive internal Email with Exchange 2000?

TIA

How can I limit a mailbox to internal communication only? I.E. no
receiving or sending of internet mail. Do I just remove the SMTP
address from the account?

Is it possible to limit an exchange account to a computer? In other
words, I have a mailbox which I want anyone to be able access but only
from our Inspection computer.

No. They need an SMTP address. Doesn't need to be a VALID one, mind
you. It is, as Martin noted, in the FAQ. FAQ 5.3 at

That will prevent them from getting mail; in order to prevent from them
sending, you need to add them on the IMS Restriction tab
