RE: Moved svr Via Appx A- Ed method But...
There is still replication traffic queuing - specifically directory updates. That message is just saying that it can't get to the destination server. Once you remove that server from the site, it will stop trying to replicate info to it. -- Roger D. RE: Moved svr Via Appx A- Ed method But...
Actually, there are three phases to the decomissioning once the server is moved: 1. leave it on. this is so MAPI clients can magically update their profiles to point at the new server. once all (or most) of the users have logged in at least once, you can move on to phase 2. 2. shut it off. this lets you test inbound and outbound mail flow and client connectivity before making an irreversible change. the new server /will/ still try to communicate with the old server for several reasons. those errors you can ignore. 3. remove it from the site. In terms of length, phase 1 is likely on the order of several days. Phase 2 is on the order of several hours. === Andy Webb[EMAIL PROTECTED] www.swinc.com Simpler-Webb, Inc. RE: Moved svr Via Appx A- Ed method But...
Thx to all for the input FYI: I did the move serveral weeks ago...yup left it up so things would/should have magically moved. Only had a few not work properly. Note: These where user account with madatory profiles. Did the OFF thing as a sort of double check to be sure things moved. It helped to find a couple things I had missed..then fixed them. How often is the MTA crying? about evry 10 minutes give or take 5 minutes. Ed- maybe add a note for us simple minds to check and update any independant OWA servers.. had to do the reg thing via a MS techdoc... thx allI think I got some understanding here..I'll remove it thx bill -Original Message- From: Webb, Andy [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, March 14, 2002 6:04 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Moved svr Via Appx A- Ed method But...
