These servers are in the same exchange organization, but each geographical location is a seperate NT4 domian (setup long ago). There is no VPN connection between the sites, etc.. so they really are stand alone networks with a mail gateway at the head office connected together by x400. In this setup, one exchange administrator can see all the servers and mailboxes and stuff, but you cant change anything that is not on the local server. We have tried replicating a public folder located on one of the remote sites to the head office site, but when we attempt to access the properties of that folder through exchange administrator in head office, exchange administrator produces an error 'the client operation failed - Microsoft Exchange Server Information store - error ID 8004010f-' Any ideas what the problem might be? RE: Replicating Public Folders in Exchange 2003
Why are you using the ADC? In the properties of each public folder, add a replica on the new server. You can do this at the root folders and use the propagage feature to duplicate the replicas recursively down the tree. Replicating Public Folders
We will be combining two Exchange Servers on two different networks. The trust between the networks has already been established. Are there any issues with replicating the public folders from server 2 (in domain 2) to server 1 (in Domain 1)? Thanks! RE: Replicating Public Folders
Exchange doesn't care about networks or trusts. However, to provide a more accurate response to the query requires some additional detail on your part. Combining is a rather generic term which could be interpreted any number of ways. -Original Message- From: McCready, Robert [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, July 16, 2002 9:27 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Replicating Public Folders We will be combining two Exchange Servers on two different networks. RE: Replicating Public Folders
Well, we will be eliminating a smaller domain, with it's own Exchange Server, and incorporating it into the larger domain, with it's own Exchange Server. We just want to move the information off of the Exchange server from the smaller domain to the Exchange Server in the larger domain, and then eliminate the smaller domain completely. -Original Message- From: Chris Scharff [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, July 16, 2002 11:13 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Replicating Public Folders Exchange doesn't care about networks or trusts. Re: replicating public folders
Ok, it seems to be working for all the users that are located on the server where the pf exists, but the users on the other server can`t access it. Anyway, is it useless to replicate the folders to the other server then? If there is author permissions on the pf as default, does it mean that everyone in the site or everyone in the organisation should be able to access it? No changes to rights or anything else has been changed for monthes. _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: replicating public folders
I bet if you put the error message in quotes and searched for it in the public kb you'd find an answer. Alternatively, try searching for a description of your problem, something like Cannot access contents of a public folder. John Fullbright MOSMWNMTK I tried to access the pf from the other server using pcanywhere . IN exchange administrator I got the message the contents of this public folder are currently avaliable. Either the Exchange server computer servicing this public folder is down or the public folder has not been replicated to this site. i find this very strange, since I KNOW that the other exchangeserver isn`t down, and the server are, as i said, in the same site, so the public folders allready exists in that site. There is some kind of communcation problem for sure, because I cant access the pf on another server but in the same site, but where can I start to look? _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
