RE: .NET Server Beta 3 and E2K support

2001-11-24 Thread Siegfried Weber

Last word was to wait for at least Exchange 2000 SP2, maybe SP3 if you
want to use a Windows .NET Active Directory.

If you want to use a Windows .NET Server as member of a Windows 2000
domain it will run with Exchange 2000 SP1 but OWA will not work due to
the changes in IIS 6. I haven't tried it with Exchange 2000 SP2 yet
hence I can't say if this will run on Windows .NET Server beta 3 ;-)

Single mailbox restore problems

2001-11-24 Thread ext-Patrick . Johansson

Hi,
Hopefully one of you people can help me out with a problem we are having
restoring a mailbox. The system setup is the following:
Win 2000 server sp 2
Exchange 2000 sp1
Legato Networker 6.0.2
COMPAQ 35/70GB DLT LIB
The problem is that every time I start scanning the tapes Networker starts
giving the error report
scanner:tape_open GetTapeStatus failed: The device has indicated that
cleaning is required before further operations are attempted. 268436621
This happens even when I have cleaned both tape drives repeatedly and it
doesn't matter what backup tapes I use. I have done a couple of succesful
restores on this server and never seen this kind of error.
Well, hopefully someone has somekind of an idea about this.
Br.

RE: Anti-virus software for Exchange

2001-11-24 Thread Arnold, Jamie

You're rightthey *seem* expensive, until they save your bacon and make
you look like a freakin' hero. Antigen got me published in the local paper
when our area got hit by one of the nasties. I'm not going to do your cost
analysis for you, but I'm sure that the time it takes to try to restore an
infected Exchange Server and *maybe* get back all the user's email,
including your boss and his boss's email would be an easy justification for
buying a top-notch product like Antigen. Spell it out for them. If they
don't buy, you're not a good enough salesman.

Hi,

Has anybody got any opinions/recommendations on anti-virus software for
Exchange 5.5 ? I've come across MailMarshal, Antigen, and GFI
MailEssentials, but they all seem quite expensive.

Thanks for any input.

Tony.

She must work in sales then. All she has to do is sell Sunbelt a license

its knees. ;-)
