restarted.
The STORE.EXE is now taking 99%
of the CPU.
I tried restarting all Exchange
services but still have the same result.
I also looked for the
BkExpandDontRun enabled in the

It is not
there.
I did not have this with
SP2.
Any idea whats causing

Damn, Somebody at CA must have some pretty incriminating pictures of you to
make you load all of their software on that box.
When you are at your wits end and have just about given up, remove, not
just disable, the CA stuff, reboot, and see what happens.
I believe the BkExpandDontRun key gets loaded everytime you eat a Whopper.

Cheers,

We
are blocking pifs at the mail server, I dont know how they got the
virus, and Trend didnt have it listed yesterday.
Computer Associates just told us there is no virus called Woodelfe.

Again we cant find the file thats supposed to have the virus, and
apparently it does not have a method of propogation so do not know how we
have got it.

Thanks

To the wonderful people on this list, has anyone heard of a virus
called win32/Woodelf.ExitToDos.pif virus.

£ of my sites with InnoculateIT have started reporting this as a
virus on their systems, and the so called infected file, ExitToDos.pif
does not exist on the systems, Norton, McAfee and Trend at home say the
systems are clean. There is no record of this virus on CA's site, NAI's
site or SARC.

Is this just innoculate it being really pants or is it something
to worry about.

Cheers

The trouble with that philosophy is that things get overlooked
when changes are made. Configure a new Internet Mail Connector

record, I've had no ptoblems whatsoever with the Post-SP4 fixes.

The trouble with that philosophy is that things get overlooked
when changes are made. Configure a new Internet Mail Connector
under your regime and you're asking for trouble unless you have
a photographic memory (which I certainly don't). And, for the
record, I've had no ptoblems whatsoever with the Post-SP4 fixes.

The magic of Address Lists in E2k

2002-07-25 Thread Brad Metzler

Can anyone explain to me how to manage address lists in E2k?

The default global address list had read permissions for everyone, yet everyone saw a
blank address book when looking at the global address list.

Question #1) How come with an everyone read permission set on the default global
address list, the global address list is empty on the clients?

So, under All Global Address Lists in the system manager, I created a list which
queries for all users and groups on server 1, and I gave it an everyone permission of
read. After doing that, all users on Server 1 and Server 2 saw only the addresses for
people on Server 1 under the global address list.

This seemed logical, until...

I went back and created another list under global address lists which queries for all
users and groups on server 2 and again gave it an everyone permission of read. After
doing that, everyone on Server 1 still saw only recipients on server 1 and everyone on
server 2 only saw recipient on server 2.

Question #2) Why this behavior? Why does one list appear to preempt the other list?
The permissions are the same on both lists, shouldn't users on both servers see the
recipients of both lists?

Thanks for any insight on this.

Brad

The STORE.EXE is now taking 99% of the CPU.

I tried restarting all Exchange services but
 still have the same result.

I also looked for the BkExpandDontRun enabled
 in the following registry key:

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ExCDO\Parameters

   It is not there.

I did not have this with SP2.

   Any idea what's causing this?

   PLEASE HELP..

   Thank you,

   Charles J. Laut

Hello. Forgive me if I am posting this request for help to the wrong
list, but I am truly frustrated.

I have a client who has been attempting to use the Our of Office
Assistant from her Outlook XP installation. She is connected to an
Exchange 2000 server, but when she selects the menu item she gets an
error message that says cannot complete the command. Check program
manuals on how to use this extension. I have tried repairing the
Office installation, removing and then reinstalling Outlook, applying
Office XP service pack one. I even followed the instructions in Q193006
- How to Reset personal menus in Office XP and Office 2000. All to no
avail. Does anyone have ideas on how to fix this problem.

Postfix and NDRs

2002-07-25 Thread Angie Sawyer
Title: Postfix and NDRs

Our Unix admins are implementing Postfix for our gateway servers. They will be running a content filter on it to block offensive words, domains, etc. My question is - when we test sending an offensive e-mail out through the Postfix box, it bounces it with the correct description (content filter info) but Exchange sends back an NDR - Unable to deliver the message due to a communications failure.

Does anyone have any ideas what can be done to change this so that Exchange will send back the blocked reply from Postfix? Otherwise the content filter is useless if no one knows they have hit it.

It doesn't help that I don't know anything about Postfix...

I'm mostly concerned that the virus scanner is in South Africa, while

RE: STORE.EXE 99% CPU exchange 2000 SP3

Title: RE: STORE.EXE 99% CPU exchange 2000 SP3

Could be your Anti-Virus. Is that running on the server? IF so, who's and what version is it?

If you have AV on the server try cycling the AV service. If that doesn't correct it, rebooting may help.

I have an exchange 2000 server w/SP2. This morning I installed SP3 and
restarted.

The STORE.EXE is now taking 99% of the CPU.

I tried restarting all Exchange services but still have the same result.

I also looked for the BkExpandDontRun enabled in the following registry
key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ExCDO\Parameters

It is not there.

Any idea what's causing this?

I'm having trouble getting my SMTP
connector to switch from my 5.5 server to my 2000 server. I have setup the
connector, but my SMTP virtual server has a question mark on it and when I
click on current sessions it's telling me the virtual server is not running.
When I right click on the virtual server, the options for start, stop, and
pause are all grayed out. When I point the firewall back to the 5.5 server,
everything works fine. I'm sure I'm just overlooking something, but I can't
figure out what is. I'm thinking it has to do with the store not knowing that
the virtual server is there and to send the messages there because it's not
running. Any one got any suggestions?

Tumbleweed has a product (NOT INEXPENSIVE) called IME (actually recently renamed
Secure Messenger) that is designed to do that. Browser (HTTPS) connection, vaguely
yahoo-mail-like
addressing/attaching interface. Understand they've done an Outlook hook to direct
attempted send of large attachment to the Secure Messenger server rather than the mail
server. We have
one in case you'd like to see a test for yourself.

Anyone else having problems with www.cdolive.net?

When I click on any icon, or select any menu, the page that comes up does not have any items in the lists. For example, the http://www.cdolive.net/exchange2000/ page shows nothing under Tutorials, FAQs, etc.

Is there an alternate web site?

I'm trying to find more info on http://www.cdolive.net/download/exchange2000messagefilterlist.zip. I can download this file, but can't find any usage instructions, like the schema for the XML file.

RE: STORE.EXE make my server die

2002-07-25 Thread Tom Meunier

Well, perhaps your question isn't right. Because Ben's answer, while
perhaps impatient, was certainly correct. STORE.EXE taking up 300mb of
RAM is completely normal (well, except that it's very light usage for
most enterprises) and is almost certainly not what is causing your
system to hang. He *did* pay attention to the subject line. You need
to work on your troubleshooting skills[1]. What led you to the
determination that 300mb is out of the ordinary, and what led you to the
further conclusion that it's hanging your system? Or do you just assume
that's what's happening? Because the information that you gave in your
original question doesn't provide that. The only truly valuable piece
of information you've given is that your server is hanging, and
STORE.EXE is working within established parameters, and that you don't
understand what those parameters are. Please give more info.
Version/SP of Exchange, and version/SP of your OS? Third party software
installed? Anything in the event log when it hangs?

Nice certifications.

The STORE.EXE is now taking 99% of the CPU.

are you just worried that your server is using the memory that you put
in it? And another note, go read the damn FAQ's! If you had read them
before posting, chances are you wouldn't have posted because your
question would have already been answered. Here is the link just so you
don't have to ask for it.

Subject: Exchange 2000 SP3

I have an Exchange 2000 server w/SP2. This morning I installed SP3 and
restarted.

The STORE.EXE is now taking 99% of the CPU.

I tried restarting all Exchange services but still have the same result.

I also looked for the BkExpandDontRun enabled in the following registry
key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ExCDO\Parameters

It is not there.

I did not have this with SP2.

Any idea what's causing this?

PLEASE HELP..

Thank you,

Charles J. Laut
