Hello everyone,

Let me start off by apologizing for the off-topic post. I've been
lurking on this list for several years and have come to appreciate the
vast majority of technical expertise from individuals all over the
world. Based on the dispersement of that expertise, I'm looking for
assistance of a different type. :)

I just proposed to my girlfriend of over 2 years this past weekend.
Thankfully, she accepted. Obviously we're very early in the planning
stages but the one thing I want to get right is the honeymoon. She has
wanted to visit Ireland her entire life, and although I've travelled
extensively thoughout the US and Canada, I'm a novice when it comes to
crossing the pond.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has personally been to Ireland and
could recommend some interesting spots to visit. I've briefly looked at
www.authenticireland.com http://www.authenticireland.com/ and
reviewed some of their packages. I have to say, staying in some of the
Castles and touring the pubs is very intriguing, but I'd also appreciate
advice on some of must visit sites in Ireland.

I'm planning on a 10-14 day excursion with a rental car, so driving long
distances shouldn't be too big of a problem. Any advice on the best time
of year would be greatly appreciated as well.

Thanks in advance :)

- Sean

I went to Ireland last summer for two weeks.  We flew into Shannon Airport in
Co. Clare.  Hung around there for a few days, went to Bunratty Castle and Folk
Park which was very fun.  We then drove up to Co. Galway and into Connemara.
This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen and I've been around
awhile.  We spent about a week there driving around, exploring the castles and
the land.  We drove up to Co. Mayo for a couple days and then down to Co.
Kerry.  We didn't have near enough time to see everything but we went around on
our own and not part of a tour so we could take our time and do what pleased us.

Early summer is a good time.  The weather was decent and there weren't too many
tourists yet.

Do you have public folders in your new 2007 environment? If so, are mailboxes

your First Administrative Group Free/Busy public folder to that 2007 replica?

I am currently in the process of migrating to Exchange 2007sp1 from Exchange
2003sp2 in a single server environment. During this migration, users that have
mailboxes moved to the Exchange 2007 server notice that they are unable to view
the calendar info when creating a meeting request for a user still housed on

for those on 2007.

Any thoughts or solutions to this problem?

Sounds like a great trip. I've been told by others to fly directly into
Shannon if we want to avoid the crowds and truly just enjoy the
sites/scenery. If anything, I'll probably set it up so that we fly out of
Shannon so we don't have to backtrack back to Dublin. I'm really looking
forward to the drive up the west coast, I've heard it's really amazing.

Did you stay at any of the castles? I'm curious about the rates on the
different rooms they offer at some of them. Are there any particular castles
you would recommmend visiting?

Thomas,

I think I've found a way to take care of some of this stuff. I have a
Watchguard firewall, which has a feature built in called an SMTP Proxy.
Within that, I can set a filter to deny any messages coming from
specific domains, or, as in this case, from specific country codes (.pl,
.ru, etc).

I just put it in place, so I'm hoping it's going to help the issue here.
As far as backscatter from within the US, I'm still working on that
one...

I'm getting users who are getting lots of mail in their inbox every
morning that looks like it is coming from themselves. Looking at the
headers, I see various actual senders, many coming from domains ending
in .ru, or .pl, etc. Is there a way of blocking e-mails from these
foreign domains? None of my users have legitimate business with anyone
in Russia, or Poland, or any other foreign country. I tried setting
this up under Sender Filtering, by putting the following in, for
example: *...@*.pl

Is there a different way of putting this in? I notice that the
instructions for Sender Filtering says to block messages claiming to
be from the following:, but these messages are actually claiming to be
from the user, not what is actually in the header. Is there a different
way of filtering these messages? There's nothing in the subject line
that is keying the IMF, or my Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft

We didn't stay at any of the castles, they were a bit pricey.  We tended to
stay at BBs.

Out of all the castles we went through Bunratty was the best restored.  They
also have a 19th century Irish Village that you can walk through.  It was
very fun.  It's about halfway between Shannon and Limerick.

If you're going to be on that side of the country you also go through The
Burren.  It is a very interesting place and there are a number of tombs and
round forts that you can visit.

Dysart O'Dea castle was also very interesting to go through.  My boss is an
O'Dea so that might have made it more interesting for me but they had a
good video regarding the history of the castle and there was a nice tea shop on
the ground floor.  This is also in Co. Clare.

There were several in Co. Galway but I don't remember the names.  We got lost

Turns out IE8 and forms based authentication don’t play well.

What turned out to be the fix? I have IE8 RC1 public installed and it
seems to work fine against Ex 2003 SP2 OWA using forms based auth over

You might consider advertising an SPF record - cheap and little effort.
No guarantees except that it lets honest domains that check for it
ignore spoofed sends.

As far as backscatter from within the US, I'm still working on that
one...

That's exactly what I'm battling right now Joe...if you look at the

RE: BES server on Windows 2008 server

2009-02-18 Thread Don Andrews
+1 - works just fine here on 2003 servers - pointed to external shared
32 bit SQL 2005 cluster.

I'm sure that someone somewhere has done it.

Personally I would be more concerned with running it on a supported
platform.

Here are the current requirements per:

http://na.blackberry.com/eng/deliverables/2751/BESX_Install_Guide_427146
_11.pdf

Any of the following operating systems:

* Windows(r) 2000 SP4 Server or Advanced Server

* Windows Server(r) 2003 or later

* Windows Server 2003 or later (64-bit)

* Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2

* Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 (64-bit)

* Windows(r) Small Business Server 2003 Standard or Premium

Now if you are planning to drop it on a 64 bit OS, you will need a 64
bit version of SQL as well.

So far I have not been able to find any info on whether or not I can
install BES 4.6 on to a Windows 2008 server and if I can should it be 32
bit or can it be 64 bit.

Also does anyone run Microsoft Windows Device Manager, if does anyone
happen to know if I can run both, BES and WDM on the same server

Thanks
