Hi all,

A thread on nt-sysadmin has got me wondering. Just how much do
people actually benefit from SIS (Single Instance Storage) in
Exchange?

Would people be willing to share their SIS ratio from their Exchange
server(s)?

Approximations are fine. For multi-server organizations, an average
or just picking a server at random would still inform.

  I'll start:

SIS ratio = 5.6

You can discover the SIS ratio by:

1. Open Performance Monitor (PERFMON.EXE)
2. Select "System Monitor" on the left
3. Right-click the graph on the right, and pick "Add Counters"
4. For "Performance Object", select "MSExchangeIS Mailbox" (or similar)
5. Select the "Single Instance Ratio" counter in the list on the left
6. Select the "_ Total" instance in the list on the right
7. Click "Add"
8. If needed, select the resulting counter in the list at the bottom
of the graph
9. Look at the "Last" value reported for that counter

Hello,

We are looking to upgrade from our current environment which is running
Windows Server 2003 with Exchange 2003 SP2 in a Windows 2003 AD to

about Server 2008 and Exchange 2007. I would first like opinions of
anyone that is currently using the platform of Windows Server 2008 and

of some good articles and or box to purchase for this migration that
would be great. Thanks in advance for the information.

You can't go wrong with our own Mr. Lefkovics' SP1 book
(http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Exchange-Server-2007-Reference/dp/0071490841/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1243889055&sr=8-3)

It also appears that Mr. McBee has updated his book for SP1, but I've not read
the SP1 version; however his books are generally pretty good
(http://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Microsoft-Exchange-Server-2007/dp/0470417331/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1243889055&sr=8-2).

Of course, all of these gentlemen are also Exchange MVPs.

Now, for specifically Windows 2008 - most people like Mark Minasi. He has two
books on 2008,
http://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Windows-Server-Essential-Technologies/dp/0470249919/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1243889314&sr=8-2
 and

but I have no opinion of them.

I learned 2008 the old-fashioned way: reading microsoft documentation and
diving right in and upgrading my domain to running it. That isn't necessarily
for the faint of heart, however.

To see multiple room calendars...

2009-06-01 Thread David
What do organizations do to let their users see multiple room calendars --
say, 8 or 10 rooms, where even doing an 'overlay' view in Outlook is too
cumbersome?

We're doing a Notes to Exchange migration, and years ago they had someone do
a custom web app that interfaces with Notes and isn't a bad system of room
reservations, checks free/busy, size of room, etc. I'm curious what can be
done in Exchange/Outlook to get to the same place. I suspect Sharepoint is
one of the usual suspects, though we're not on MOSS yet.

Thanks,

David

receiving is only thru 1 location(any other opinion?) and delivered to the
