RE: Setting the default format for mail alias

2011-12-15 Thread Michael B. Smith
The default GUI response? Not to my knowledge. How could it know what the
 should be before you created the user?

But you could pretty easily do something like:

$mailboxes = Get-Mailbox -ResultSize Unlimited
foreach( $mailbox in $mailboxes )
{
if( $mailbox.Department -and ( $mailbox.Alias
-ne "$($mailbox.Department)$($mailbox.sAMAccountName)" ) )
{
$mailbox | Set-Mailbox -Alias
"$($mailbox.Department)$($mailbox.sAMAccountName)"
}
}

Ok, but is there a way to change the default response to fill it with the
+SAMAccountName? I'm assuming the Set-Mailbox-Alias is a one for one

RE: Exchange, iPhone, and Disappearing appointments

2011-12-15 Thread Johnston,Jameson D
We have seen other calendar sync issues with iOS 5.0.1 and Exchange 2010. One
of the more problematic issues is that seemingly random appointments will
show-up in Outlook and OWA, but not the iOS device. The inverse is true as
well, certain appointments will show-up in the iOS device, but not Outlook or
OWA.

I know other institutions have seen this issue as well, but I have yet to see
anyone determine a clear pattern, much less the underlying cause. The only real
clue that I have is that it seems to happen almost exclusively with mailboxes
who have calendar delegates, though the problematic appointments are not always
created by a delegate. To our knowledge, users did not experience this issue
with iOS 5.0.0.

Subject: [windows-hied]: Exchange, iPhone, and Disappearing appointments

Yesterday, a user encountered an issue with his Exchange mailbox. Here is the
scenario:

* User connects iPhone to his PC via USB.

* User uses iTunes to upgrade the iOS on his phone

* After the upgrade, all calendar entries in his Exchange mailbox are
removed (can't see them on phone or in Outlook)

Past the above, I don't know what else the user did, what he clicked, what
options he chose. Google doesn't seem to reveal anything about this particular
issue (though there are many other sync issues related to iPhone, it would
seem).

We are running Exchange 2007.

Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks,

Jeff

RE: Restore cabinet

2011-12-15 Thread Glen Johnson
Michael.
Thanks for the reply.
I wasn't sure if the pst method would create duplicates as not all the email
had been deleted.
I kept playing and finally got the new-mailboxrestore to work.
The correct parm was -includefolders Cabinet/*

Exchange 2010 sp1.
I need to restore only the cabinet folder for one user.
I have the recovery db restored and mounted. I restored the entire user
mailbox to a test account and the data is there.
So now I want to restore just the cabinet to the users account.
Anyone know the syntax for the includefolders parameter to the
new-MailboxrestoreRequest command.
I've tried  'Cabinet',   '/Cabinet',  'Inbox/Cabinet', '#Cabinet' and
'#Cabinet#' but nothing is being restored.
Any ideas surely appreciated.

Or is the best way to do this, export the cabinet from the test account to a
pst, then restore that pst into the users account.
