Re: Mobile Phone only email accounts

2012-10-20 Thread Peter Johnson
I believe there are some apps out there that will send out an SMS notifying
them of password expiration and allowing them to change password via SMS. If
not I'm sure u could cobble something together relatively quickly with
powershell etc.

Sent on the run!

setting their accounts to have passwords never expire
to set their accounts so that we send an email out 10 days prior and they
have to log on somewhere using OWA,

Currently we came up with this plan but I am sure there are better ideas out

Send out an email with a temporary password and instructions for changing
password, to be used the next day.
Overnight, manually reset each user’s password to standard issue password
Next day, user will have to open yesterday’s email and click on a link to
take them into a page where they can reset their password. (They will have
to create a new password at this point, and remember it.)
They will then have to open their Android email application, go to Settings,
 and enter their new password.
In six months, send them an automated email prompting them to reset their
 password.
User will have to remember their expiring password (which they haven’t used
in six months) before they can enter a new password.

 Thoughts?

You can modify something like this pretty easily to do what you want (for
sending email):

We have some service techs who only use their email on smart phones. So they
do don't receive any notificatiion that their passwords are about to expire.
Do you have any suggestions as to ways to best manage this?
We have considered
* setting their accounts to have passwords never expire
* to set their accounts so that we send an email out 10 days prior and
they have to log on somewhere using OWA,
* we have looked at whether there is a URL to send to my mobile users
so they can reset their email passwords before they expire using a version of
this page that's optimized for a mobile screen. Is there such a version?

there:

changing password, to be used the next day.
2. Overnight, manually reset each user's password to standard issue
password
3. Next day, user will have to open yesterday's email and click on a link
to take them into a page where they can reset their password. (They will have
to create a new password at this point, and remember it.)
