Norton usually suggest Med, but what will hog your performance is subject
blocking the more you have ,it will slow down the email coming into your
Exchange system because it will take longer to search for each subject...

Anyone know, if the General Scanning option in Norton's for Exchange effect
performance allot? I'm not really sure if I should enable the Use
Bloodhound scanning or what? I currently have it on High, because I figured
"Hey better safe than sorry!" Any suggestions on this?

The consensus seems to be that, to safely run Norton Anti-Virus Corporate
Edition on an Exchange server, the Exchange directories need to be
excluded. That makes sense, and I've heard it from the A/V guys at my
company too.

Can we develop a consensus on exactly which files and
directories need to be excluded?

Here's a first shot at the discussion:

For the following directories, do we exclude all files and directories
recursively? .. or just certain files?

?:\ExchSrvr\DSADATA
?:\ExchSrvr\IMCDATA
?:\ExchSrvr\INSDATA
?:\ExchSrvr\KMSDATA
?:\ExchSrvr\MDBDATA
?:\ExchSrvr\MTADATA

What about the WEBDATA directory?

What about the Q... direcories?

Thanks

Any services that run under IIS will auto stop at what seems like
random intervals when infected with Nimda.  We have cleaned/quarantined
all of the files on one of our servers and it still acts
funny.

I have a newer (backup) server.  I messed up
when I loaded Exchange 5.5 and sp4.  I am looking to change the site name
on this new server to match my existing server.  I want to do this again
once all my accounts are migrated to the new server.  The original
install was about 6 years ago and the site, organization, and some of the
configuration is a little off.  So my question is how to change the site
name on the new server to match the old server without a reinstall.  Once
the server move is complete how do I change the site information to something
that is reasonable to our organization now.
I am on NT 4.0 sp6a stand alone servers in a
  mixed environment.

Ok everyone here is talking about the 16GB limit on regular 5.5, but all the
docs I can find from Microsoft don't seem to differencate between 5.5 and
5.5 enterprise. I was always under the impression that regualar 5.5 had the
16GB limit, and Eneterprise got rid of it.

Am I right?
If not what is the limit in regualr 5.5?

If you setup another server running nothing but IIS and OWA (for 5.5) does
it make a connection with the Exchange server that you put in during the
install and make any changes? I want to setup a separate test OWA server,
but want to make sure that it will not effect the running setup. Thank you,
John

RE: OWA for 5.5

Can you run Win2000 Server, Exch2000 OWA only (just OWA from Exch2000)in a
Exch 5.5 environment?

Yes, I just went and checked again. We're running Version 5 of IIS on a W2K
Server. And it works just fine interfacing with our Exchange Server Version
5.5.

No, the OWA you install will have no impact on your Exch box.

We are eliminating one of our exchange servers (5.5, SP4) from our site.
Unfortunately, a lot of our distribution lists point to this server as the
expansion server. Is there a way to change this on all of our distribution
lists at once instead of going into each group to make the change?

Thanks,

Tim

I found the above article that describes the problem we are having exactly.
We are on SP4 and I wanted to ask if anyone here has found any workaround
for this?

Maybe a way to tell the Exchange server to map .msg to .txt and have the
message open on the client side? (just an idea).

Any input is appreciated...

Thank you,

Heidi

RE: Note vs Exch thingy again

Is
there any way you can import Note's Archive mail to Exchange 5.5,  I am
doing a Notes to Exchange migration

  thingy again
  This is for Michael,
adding extra users in notes 4.x or 5.x is called
"adding a data base"  What it does is put another DB Icon on the "work
space".  The DBs are added via the users .id files.  You can have up
95 DBs on any one "work space".  The user then just selects the DB they
want and it asks for their password.  I always just named the DBs with
the users name.  It is kind of a pain in the ass I spent the better part
of a week making the changes with pc anywhore to about 200 note clients.
Sorry I can't be more detailed but I'm not running notes anymore.  You
must be connected to the domino server to make changes to notes.
