IIS 7 -Exchange 2007

2012-01-07 Thread Brent Zalewski
We are using an external company for our email archive solution. I
received the following email from them yesterday concerning some email in
the Journal mailbox that will not move to their system. The article that
is referenced mentions that the server will have lower security. Any
dangers in performing this? Is the syntax correct? They connect to our
server using OWA. I assume for localhost I could use the server name.

Thanks

Brent

I find there are many emails in journal mailbox and failed to vault, it's
because of the subject include "+".
I am not sure if I sent a solution to you or not, here it is.

To solve this issue we need run the following command on Mailbox
server:

%windir%\system32\inetsrv\appcmd set config "http://localhost/Exchange";
-section:system.webServer/security/requestfiltering
-allowDoubleEscaping:true /commit:apphost

refer to this MS document for more details:

OWA and Fine Grained Password Policies

2011-03-16 Thread Brent Zalewski
We have an Exchange 2007 server and have implemeted Fine Grained Password
Polcies on Server 2008. Whenever a user logs on to OWA they are prompted that
their password expires today. I found an article that discusses this
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrclients/thread/ef53ef0c-2f2f-414d-bfa1-10f0e6ea085f.

Is this fixed in any Exchange updates? Is there another way to stop this from
displaying?

Thanks

Exchange 2007-Outllok 2007 Free/Busy Error

2011-03-09 Thread Brent Zalewski
We have created a room mailbox in Exchange 2007 Server. We have 3 users that
have been granted full access to this room mailbox. Only one of the users can
actually put appointments on the calendar. The other users can see the calendar
but receive the following when they try to put an appointment on it - Cannot
open free/busy information. you do not have sufficient permission to perform
this operation. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Contact List Moved from Public Folder

2011-02-14 Thread Brent Zalewski
We had an admin user move a contact list from a Public Folder to a users
conatct list using Outlook. I gave the user who has the contact list now full
rights to the Public folder. When I attempt to move the contact list back it
says that we will have to wait for the list to snyc with the server. It has
been over 30 minutes. I do not see anything moving back to the Public Folders.
 Any help would be appreciated.

GAL update in Exchange 2007

2011-01-27 Thread Brent Zalewski
We had an existing Distribution List that we decided to hide from the GAL. I
checked the "Hide from address book" box. How long can it take for the list to
not be visible in the GAL?

No, we are working with them to archive users email. Someone at our company
wants to have reports emailed to them once a month on certain activity.

Allow Relay over VPN Connection

2011-01-14 Thread Brent Zalewski
We are working with a company that says they may need to use our Exchange
server (2007 SP1) as a relay to send mail to our internal users only. I
thought if they were sending to internal users there would not be a need for a
relay. We have several devices (copier, etc) on our network that can send
messages to internal users that do not need a relay configured. Is this a
security/spam risk issue?

Thanks

Changing Storage Limits on Database

2010-09-20 Thread Brent Zalewski
If I need to changes to the storage limits on a storage Group database does
make the changes while the database remains online? I want to make sure I
don't have to dismount the database before making changes. Is it better to
change the limits on a single user if we have one or two that are getting
closer to the limits?

Thanks

Monitor Which IP Address Sends Mail to Exchange

2010-07-16 Thread Brent Zalewski
Is there any way to monitor which IP address is sending mail to an Exchange
Server. When I look in the Queue Viewer of any email the IP address is
255.255.255.255. We have a situation where a users email address is sending
hundreds of emails to nonexistent addresses. The users computer was off and
unplugged from the network yesterday and it was still happening. If I look in
her sent items it actually shows some of theses messages being sent by her. We
enable BATV on our spam filter but that did not do anything to help. Any deas
would be appreciated.

Thanks

Brent

Re: Several NDR's

2010-06-02 Thread Brent Zalewski
Thanks for all the help. We are looking into what the best solution is for us.
But isn't the real issue from all of this being put on a RBL because some of
the email sent could be sent to a monitored email address for spam? O ram I
missing something?

Thanks

RE: Several NDR's

2010-06-02 Thread Brent Zalewski
As I read through all the articles on this I really wonder what if anything can
be done. Some articles say to report this and other say just to ignore it.
What really is the best solution , if any?

Thanks

Several NDR's

2010-06-01 Thread Brent Zalewski
We have a user that has been receiving hundreds of the following NDR's. The
date sent on the message show yesterday which was a holiday. The user did not
loogn to her OWA or was not on her computer email at all yesterday. Any ideas
would be appreciated. Check machine for virus, spyware, etc. Nothing found as
of yet. There was nothing in the Sent Items for any of these messages.
I noticed that the to in the first part of the message with a banet.net domain
and the to in the diagnostic area is winn...@camelot.co.uk.

Error 550 -Denied By Policy

2010-05-20 Thread Brent Zalewski
Last week we were on an RBL. Several of our users were receiving 550 denied by
Policy return messages. We were removed form the RBL about 6 to 7 days ago.
We continue to receive a few 550 Denied By Policy messages back. I checked
today and we are not on an RBL - used mxtoolbox.com. Is is possible some
servers have not updated the RBL list after this long? I was also told by a
few users that the message was received by the remote even though they received
the 550 error. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Denied By Policy 550

2010-05-10 Thread Brent Zalewski
We have an Exchange 2007 SP1 server. We have had several users send messages
to Internet email addresses and have an NDR come back with the following:

block.microcomps.com #550 Denied by policy ##
dsmdc-mail-bxga2 #550 Denied by policy

Is this from some RBL?

Thanks

All,

We are looking to implement an email archiving solution into our environment
and would like some suggestions. We currently have one Exchange server running
Exchange Server 2003 on a Windows Server 2003 R2 box. At some point we will
upgrade to Windows Server 2008 R2 and Exchange 2010.

Thanks
