These were all the rage 5 years ago but I see them less and less these days.
Still a necessary evil? Anyone still using them?

Thanks,

RE: Anybody heard of these guys?

2010-03-25 Thread Dennis Melahn
I'm currently shopping for an IP solution. ShoreTel may be the way I go
eventually but I have a local fellow trying to sell me Asterisk PBX on Linux.
Asterisk also sells every flavor of digium telephony interface card to connect
your home grown PBX server to the public switched network.

RE: what is your maximum message size in exchange 2007

2009-06-11 Thread Dennis Melahn
We use Globalscape Secure FTP Server with the HTTP/S option. It works ok for
the price. Once your ftp admins understand how to set permission within it's
virtual file system then life becomes much better.

For those that are using an FTP solution for large file transfers, what
are you using? I am interested in an easy to use web based setup and any
details would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Kevin

I don't have a ton of bandwidth and/or storage. Based on all the feedback I
think I'll bump it to 20 MB for now and let mailbox size limits handle those
who choose to abuse.

anyone tell me if this is spam generated from an infected machine or if it's an

Outlook Anywhere - yes or no?

2009-02-10 Thread Dennis Melahn
We just upgraded to Exch07 recently and I've had a few managers question my
descision not to set this up. My primary reason/s was training users and techs
on setting up and using another method of connectivity. We already have Citrix,
Cisco VPN and OWA. Remote users almost always require connection to core apps
as well as Outlook so they would need to use one of these other methods of
connectivity anyway. Is adding Outlook Anywhere to the mix just going to
confuse my remote users (primarily salespeople) and make more work for my dept?
What are the Pros and Cons here?
Thanks,
Dennis

Exch2007 in ESX

2008-04-28 Thread Dennis Melahn
Anyone virtualized Exchange 2007? I'm getting mixed opinions. My Dell server
guys are saying performance would suffer too much. I also have a local
integrator who is a VMware and MS Gold Partner and says they virtualize
everything and that because my information store is only about 25GB for approx
150 boxes I wouldn't have performance problems. Thoughts?

Thanks,
Dennis

re: Blackberry question

2007-12-27 Thread Dennis Melahn
If you need to get 1 BB for 1 person who HAS to have a BB then I suggest you
get a BB from Verizon Wireless. They include their own free BB service in their
unlimited data plan, so you don't need BES in-house. You have 30 days for the
user to descide if it's a good solution. You can send it back anytime in the
first 30 days.

We did this as a test when the Treo 650s started dying and we were looking for
a replacement candidate. Since then we have purchased BES and are moving
Goodlink users to BB as the Treos die off.
