You need a
third-party add-on such as Antigen or McAfee.

How can you block specific file types at the email server so that they do
not reach the end users?  For example if a script is sent as an
attachment, how can I configure it to delet the attachment before reaching the
  end user?
We are running Exchange 5.5 and Exchange 2K.  Thanks in
  advance.--Jim

RE: OWA and SP4

2001-11-26 Thread Eric Peeters
Title: OWA and SP4

The guy who
installed OWA before my time (convenient, I get to blame someone else) installed
it in a non-default directory. Apparently that was Ok until after I installed
SP4 because OWA now tries to revert to the default directory and generates 404
errors for obvious reason.

Thank you everyone
for your help.

  Try
using the IP address of the server with the /exchange in a browser on the
  internal network to see if that part of it is working. e.g.;
  205.3.254.133/exchange

  If
it works, then you can tackle the issue of why you can't see it from the
  outside.

I have internal

internal users never use it (I'm about the only one). I get a 404 coming
both from the inside and the outside using either FQDN.

Are user getting the error from the outside? In
our installation, due to the way the router is set up with NAT, users have
to type in the IP address/exchange in their browsers to open OWA
internally. From the outside, they type in the
  servername.FQDN/exchange.

  Hello,
I've recently installed SP4 on my Exchange
5.5 server and it broke OWA. When users type in the URL for OWA, they
are prompted for authentication as normal but then they get a 404
instead of a page asking them for their user name and password. I have
looked through the Microsoft KB for pointers without luck. I am
thinking of reinstalling OWA but before I do so, I wanted to see if
other people had had similar experiences.
Also, if I resintall OWA, don't I have to
  reinstall SP4 afterwards ?

Moving logs

I would like to move my Exchange logs from the default path to a different one but I haven't found a place to do that in Exchange. I'm specifically interested in moving the IMC logs. Is that even doable ?

Thanks.

Every now and then (about thrice a week), my ISA server filters out and blocks an unrecognized SMTP command intended for my Exchange box. The exact command is XEXCH50 1936.

Does anyone know what it is and should I let it through ?

Thanks.

SMTP receives messages, but they are not transferred

2001-08-31 Thread Eric Peeters

Hello,

I am having a problem with Email delivery.
In the Event viewer, I see entries from MSExchange IMC that a TCP/IP
connection was received from an SMTP host as usual. What I don't see, is
what should be the next entry, the message transfer notice that a message
was received and stored in a temporary folder in the \in subdirectory.

Consequently, I am basically not receiving emails. I've tried restarting
Exchange and I have checked my ISA settings (the email server is behind
ISA) and everything looks fine. Does anyone have a suggestion ?

Thanks.
