Exchange deleted items clear down

2010-12-24 Thread Gavin Wilby
On Exchange 2003 is was dead easy to do a policy that would delete items
from users folders (specifically out of the deleted items folder) after a
certain amount of time.

I have a client with very messy users and he wants any email older than 60
days in the Deleted Items to be removed for all users on a 2007 Exchange
server - whats the best way to achive this?

Any pointers would be very helpful.

   situation:
 mail=server1: exchange server 2010
 besx=server2: member server in domain

 Requirements:
 import and export mailbox data
 use BESx to update calendars

 Assumptions:

 MS requires Outlook 2010 on the mail store machine to import and export pst
 files
 RIM requires CDO 1.2.1 on exchange server for calendars to function
 correctly

 Problem:

 Outlook 2010 cannot coexist with CDO 1.2.1

 Do I need to give up a requirement or purchase another exchange server?

 RIM support says remove Outlook.
 MS knowledgebase says RIM is lieing.

 Has anybody been down this road before? I could sure use some insight,

 -Bill

 Greetings,

 So I have a user that has had some changes done to their computer and now
 Outlook does not act the same.

 Outlook 2007, Exchange 2003, the issue? Well it is when they type a :) 'it
 used to make a smiley face'

 Anyone know how or why this does not work anymore? I am guessing other
 symbols don't as well.

 They *can *add it by doing an *insert symbol*

 Thank You

Re: Sharing calendars by way of the server.

2010-03-23 Thread Gavin Wilby
In Outlook 2007, if a user tries to open a calendar they dont have access to
it will give you the option of sening the end user an email to allow it,
which they can repsond to via a button, if that helps?

Gavin.

 This might be something simple that I'm overlooking, maybe not. Without

Auditing Exchange Public Folders

2009-08-06 Thread Gavin Wilby
Hello,

My GoogleFoo is failing me here.

I have an Exchange 2003 Standard setup with a few public folders in
it, one being a contacts folder with approx 5000 contacts in it.

I have been informed that a few contacts have disappeared, but of
course noone has deleted them, so the server must have done it!

Is there a way to audit the contacts folder for entry deletion easily,
so if it happens again I can at least show the boss that n user
deleted x entry?

Gavin.
