Thanks Joe for the info. I already had those two articles but I wanted to make sure
there wasn't anything else I needed to do. Something that MS doesn't cover in their
KB.

RE: Attachment blocking Now what!

2002-02-04 Thread Jonathan K

We have a policy that only Word docs and Excel files and pdf's come thru
everything else is blocked. If they need some other attachment we get
it for them only if it is work related. This has worked well for us so
far.

Ok for those of you that block all attachments including .exe .com .jpg
.gif . How do you deliver legitimate attachments to your folks. I want
to implement this but I would like to hear the process of others. I
don't want to have to spend all day manually delivering somebodies
pictures of their kids to them. thanks in advance.

SSL and OWA

2001-12-19 Thread Jonathan K
Title: Message

I am using ssl and
owa to access my exchange 2kbox remotely. It is extremely slow
logging in, once logged in the systems run quite fast. I then tried to
access the exchange box onsite using owa and it is still very slow. Any
thoughts or ideas?

DMZ migration

2001-10-22 Thread Jonathan K

Hey everyone I have a fun project to do and I could really use some
expert advise. I have to move our Exchange server from the DMZ to the
internal network. I need to change ip addresses but on the exchange
side what do I need to do? And this is going to sound dumb but how do I
get the clients to look at the new location of the server?

Thanks so much. I really hate to ask but I don't what to mess this up!

RE: DMZ configuration

2001-09-13 Thread Jonathan K

Well basically here is the senario. I have a test Exchange2k test box
sitting in my DMZ the few clients connecting to it complain of slow
performance. It doesn't seem to matter whether the client is outside
our coporate network or inside, performance is slow in both instances.
Although I have to say that it is somewhat better inside (which would
stand to reason). Really what I am trying to determine is how best to
fix this performance and also to find out how others are setting up
their environment. My understanding from William's post is that the DMZ
config is not good. From experience now I have to agree. Any comments
or suggestions would be appreciated.

Just wondering how all of you configure your exchange environment.
Specifically do you place your servers inside or outside the DMZ? What
are the performance implications of both?
