Removing Newsgroups

2001-12-03 Thread Kieran Fitzgerald

Hi all,

    I
was wondering whether anyone come across an easy way to remove newsgroup
listings from ex2k? I had originally set up a newsfeed,
which then downloaded 25000 newsgroups onto our server.  When I try and delete the roots of the
newsgroup hierarchy it kills system manager, and generates huge volumes of
logs.  I am assuming it is to do with
the volume of exchange objects being deleted in one go, because I can delete
individual newsgroups without any issue.

Any Ideas?

Thanks in Advance

They get to the logon password/username
screen and all it does it keeps asking them. We even used the domain/username
thing. No avail.

BTW, ask a stupid question maybe something
simple was overlooked.

referenced in Q278299 but with that (maybe) fixed they can not access OWA

Ahhha you where right! For some reason, the M: drive has been
changed to amvex.com instead of my domain amico.com. The drive is
M:\AMVEX.com\MBX\, according to the Exchange resource kit it needs the
SMPT for that address, (Amvex) in this case. I simply added
[EMAIL PROTECTED] to a user as a secondary address and it now works.

Problem I need to change this back to amico.com, can that be done? The
main domain is amico.com, however I'm also hosting an other company
called Amvex and need to be able to continue receiving mail for Amvex.
If I can change the M:\ to M:\amico.com\MBX, I can add secondary
[EMAIL PROTECTED] addresses for Amvex since the users are few.

How to I change the M:\ drive?

Whilst playing with my permissions on my ex2k server, I managed to deny

thinking that it would lock out the users who were explicitly granted

Hence I now have a dead exchange server. Does anyone know how to help?
Thought I may have to use adsi edit or the like to sort it out... but
not sure.

RE: Urgent Running out of Drive space

2002-01-16 Thread Kieran Fitzgerald

Maybe if you use your exchange server as a print server, spool files
build up in the system32\spool folder. Also maybe your service pack
uninstall folder in the winnt? Also also sometimes what you see as
taking up 1gb in explorer might be using more disk space due to
fragmentation and block size of the disk... Another thing is to check
the size of the user profiles

Setup is as follows

IBM Server NT 4 service pack 6a
Exchange 5.5 sp4
C Drive 4gb only 9mb free
D Drive 27Gb 24gb free
We use backup exec 8.6 with the exchange agent.

I have run the optimiser and according to that everything is on the e

When I look at all the folders on the C drive they only amount to just
over
1 gig...

Anyone got any ideas??

RE: owa 5.5 & ex2000 native

2002-03-14 Thread Kieran Fitzgerald

I was working on a way of making custom outlook forms available to our web
users without re-inventing the wheel and learning how to develop Web Storage
System forms for OWA2k. Obviously I only came up with the idea of installing
an ex5.5 OWA server & outlook form converter after I had switched to native
mode... I did remember when I had the domain in mixed mode you could use
either OWA5.5 or ex2k to access ex2k mailboxes.
Thank you for you help, back to the drawing board

I am not sure if I understood you correctly but here is what I can say
about the issue:

- Exchange 5.5 OWA can reach any mailbox or Public folders on Exchange
2000 servers but reverse is not true.

- ASP-based customizations of OWA and custom solutions based on
collaboration data objects (CDOs) and OWA of earlier versions of
Exchange Server are not upgradeable. However, these solutions do not
need to be replaced and can be used in a native Exchange 2000 Server
organization.

The problem is that you are talking about a NATIVE E2K configuration. IF
E2K is native then where is this E5.5 ? The information above is valid
only if you have a Mixed Mode environment.

I hope it helps.

Remarkably
it doesn’t show a thing. That’s the main reason none of the kb
articles seem to apply, they’re all tied to an event ID.

It’s
really quit frustrating that the error in Outlook couldn’t be less
informative if it wanted to and the event log doesn’t show a thing.

The knowledgebase

I’m

Can

Subject: ActiveSync connection issue

I am working with a company that has about 1500 activesync devices. We are
running into an issue in the actual headquarters where users in the office
are having difficulty accessing their mail through the wireless WAN
connection. They occasionally receive an unable to connect error on their
device. Looking at the CAS servers there are no 3007 or 3014 errors saying
that the servers are dropping connections.

Is there anything in particular I should be checking? Estimates are that
about 1000 of the devices are trying to connect through this connection.
Users do not receive this error when they are at home or anywhere else
using the wireless connection.

Thanks

Phil
