RE: A Little OT: BB Z10 Rebooting Issues
FYI I noticed that this related posting was just added on berryreview.com: I have been hearing from quite a few readers who recently purchased the Verizon BlackBerry Z10 about issues I know BlackBerry has resolved months ago. I know that Verizon has an older version of the BlackBerry 10 OS but some of these issues are very painful. For example, here is just one laundry list of complaints from a single Verizon BlackBerry Z10 owner today: •BlackBerry 10 Android Player menu swipe down stops working – Only fix is to turn on airplane mode, reboot, and pray. •Charging just stops for no reason •Sudden random reboots multiple times a day (They cannot use third party apps that need to be running) •Random lack of connection in Android apps when other apps work along with Force Close annoyances •Browser crashes regularly All of these issues are things that I know BlackBerry has directly addressed and fixed in current OS updates on other carriers. For some reason the Verizon BlackBerry Z10 has been left out in the cold leaving BlackBerry faithful users with a bad impression of BlackBerry Z10. One that does not exist on any other carrier (that I know of). I know that BlackBerry is putting the full court press on Verizon to get them to update but I have not been able to get any target dates due to their miles of red tape. If you do happen to have a BlackBerry Z10 on Verizon and are running into issues I only posted this to make sure you know that you are not alone AND this is not a typical BlackBerry Z10 experience. Hopefully Verizon users will get an OS update shortly to rectify the situation. Until now those Verizon Z10 users who are willing to take risks and have some technical know how are trying to load the latest leaked OS on their devices with some luck. Hope that helps. Quest own ScriptLogic ... it's the same product. ScriptLogic sells to SMB (can't remember if they define it as under 1000 or under 2000 seats) and Quest sells to Enterprise ... so depending on your company size you have to deal with one company or the other. Or maybe there really is only 2gb of PF data? Maybe your source PF store, which indicates 12gb, has lots of white space? Does it look like there are replicas on the target server of all folders? It's my guess that it's more likely an Exchange issue as opposed to client We recently had one issue with respect to CCR that bit us our OAB generator in Exchange 2007 was pointing to the primary CCR mode but it wasn't the active node any more because we'd failed over at some point. Maybe save the email as a .msg file, attach it to a new message and put the new message in the PST (?)... OAB issue - Ex2007
Hi. We have a problem with the Offline Address Book not updating. Exchange 2007 w/ CCR. Turns out the OAB generator is pointing to the primary CCR mode but it's not the active node. Technet ( http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd285503(EXCHG.80).aspx) indicates we need to either make the primary node the active node again, or manually repoint the registry entry to the active node ... that seems kind of strange. Wouldn't it make more sense to point the OAB generator to the cluster itself and let it figure out what node is active?So this means that every time we fail over (ex: patching/maintenance activity), we need to either change this registry entry or always fail back to the primary node? Am I missing something? Seems like a lot of manual work (that computers were supposed to save us from). You need to set the Default rights to the room's Calendar to Reviewer. Log on to the room mailbox (Outlook), view the Calendar and go to Properties / Permissions tab... There's probably some script to do this but.. I log onto the mailbox using Outlook and in Calendar Properties set the default right to Reviewer. Assuming you still have the Tracking Logs for the period in question, then download and install the 30-day trial of Quest MessageStats ( www.quest.com/messagestats). In the admin console you can identify certain mailboxes on which you want detailed information (auditing tab), and then set up a gathering task for the tracking logs on the servers. Wait for data to be imported, then from the reports console run the Mailbox Sent Audits report. We've had several Ex2007 user mailboxes with those symptoms. Their mailbox's AutomateProcessing flag were getting set to autoaccept instead of autoupdate ... Had to run a powershell script to change that setting, and have not determined how the flag got reset. I'm not sure it's the same issue as KB983316 as I'm not sure how an Outlook patch would change a mailbox setting like that (?). I haven't found any background details on exactly what the Outlook patch does for the symptom of automatically moving newly received mail to deleted items. Quest’s Recovery Manager for Exchange can read the Exchange db right off the Networker backup tape without need of an Exchange server. It can save the mbx contents to a pst for importing into the ‘live’ mailbox. I’ll bet PowerControls can do the same. RE: Migrating special mailboxes
To get rid of the remaining replicas on your Ex2003, some of which could be which the standard built-in PFs, use System Manager in Ex2003 and use the Move All Replicas option. Wait for replication to complete .. the Public Folder Instances folder will be empty. Then you can delete the PF database. PF migration - Ex2003 to Ex2007 w/ CCR
Hi. I'd appreciate help understanding how to move Exchange 2003 Public Folders to our Exchange 2007 CCR cluster. In Ex2003 there are several PF stores. In Ex2007, mbxs roles are only on the one 2-node CCR cluster. Due to the conflict between PF replication and CCR, we plan to replicate all PFs over a weekend to the Exchange 2007 cluster and then shut off PF replication, but here's what I'm not sure about: - do we disable CCR while the PF replication is taking place? - once all PFs have replicated and PF replication is turned off, will dismounting the Ex2003 Public Stores be enough to force Outlook 2007 clients to the Ex2007 PFs or do I need to delete the Ex2003 Public Stores? - will Ex2007 CCR automatically start copying the new public store within the cluster? What other gotchas should I look out for? Thanks Rob
