RE: Cant uninstall Exchange 2k

2002-06-06 Thread Ryan McBride

If u read the message i did look in Technet with that error message. However
all i got were error messages relating to information store not SMTP Service
which seems to be the problem that it keeps coming back to. One article
suggested deleting any reference to exchange service under Start > Settings
> Control Pannel > Admin Tools > Sites & Services. I did that to no avail??
Im lost here. What answers did technet offer you?? I only manged to get 2
returns :(

Hey there "Mr. High Impotence". Have you considered going to technet and
querying your error. I got about 20 hits on the error number alone...

Hey all, get the following message when i try and uninstall Exchange 2k.
Setup failed while (error 0x80005000: An invalid ADSI
pathname was passed.) .

Additional information:
An invalid ADSI pathname was passed.

ID no: 80005000
Microsoft Exchange Setup

Microsoft Exchange Messaging and Collaboration Services

Function:
ScGetCurrentFlavorOfSetupInstalled
CCompServer::ScPreSetup
CComExchSetupComponent(%s)::PreInstall

I cant work out what the problem is, going through the log file for the
setup program, it has entries stating that SMTP & NNTP arnt installed and it
cant remove them, however it is installed. Ive tried doing a "Setup
/forestprep or /domainprep" as well and then trying to do a remove install
but it still dont work. Im out of ideas here and i need to get it back up
and running, a total rebuild if the box & AD isnt what i had in mind!!

Any advice would be well appreciated. Technet turned up dry as well.

Thanx all

Ryan

Send
as just changes the name of who sends it. It wont however store in the sent
items relevant to the sender. It just places it i nthe sent items relevant to
your default profile

Rules - Multiple Mailboxes & Sent Items
We have a number of stafff that have extra
mailboxes currently. IE Payroll and so forth. These are not there default
mailboxes. However we would like to keep all email relevant to these
mailboxes in the one place. Ie so when a staff member replies to an email or
sends an email from this account, the email is loged in the sent items of
the SECONDARY ACCOUNT not the users default personals account. I have looked
at the rules in Outlook 2k and dont seem to be able to figure out a way to
do this. Ideas anyone??

You are aware, then, that server-side there is a hard-coded, inflexible 32kb
limit for rules per mailbox.

Is the smtp address [EMAIL PROTECTED] an alias to a mailbox or it's own
mailbox?

Hey all,

A quick one which i hope you can help me with.

We have a special email address which we use for responses to jobs we
advertise. However I have been requesed to make an automatic responder
to
this email addressed. You know the usual crap "thanx for applying, blah
blah blah..."

Easiest way i thought would be to create a rule on Outlook 2K
Check mail when Arrives > When sent to Careers > Have server reply using

Nice an easy until i get this REALLY annoying error message
"There is not enough space on the MS Exchange Server to store all of
your
rules. The rules that failed to upload have been deactivated"

And this is the rule which i need. We are running Exchange 5.5 SP3 in a
single site supporting approx 60 mailboxes. All clients using MS Outlook
2k.

Suggestions?? I have read the MS KB Article which mentioned the error
message but the fix didnt make any sense. Q241325

Thanx All
