RE: McAfee GroupShield 5.0 and Exchange 5.5 SP4
Groupsheild has worked great for us. Simple install and it has been blocking a lot of viruses. I have no problems with it. Management has backed me into the corner and I am forced to finally install some type of anti-virus on the Email server. Any tips, tricks, hints, or allegations would be appreciated. Message Size
I have some users that are trying to email files that are over 36MB in size. That is above the Maximum Message Size that is set at this time. They are the type that will run to the higher ups in the company and cry to them to get it changed. We only have a 256K connection to the Internet. What do you have your message size set to and could you give some of the reasoning behind the decision for that size? Thanks. RE: Looking Exchange server usage reporting tool
Not sure on price, but Spotlight on Exchange is nice. Easy to setup and easy on the eyes for viewing. Brad -Original Message- From: Jay Ploughe [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, February 13, 2002 11:17 AM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: Looking Exchange server usage reporting tool I am looking for a utility that can be used to generate statistical type reports on Exchange server usage-- numbers of internal emails, external emails (sent and received), top senders/receivers, etc... I read about Sunbelt's MELIA but it looked like over-kill for my purposes. Are there any purely reporting tools that are free or relatively inexpensive that anyone can recommend? Retrieve Message from .pst file
I have a user that has deleted an email from a .pst file where they store important emails. I know that the email is still in the .pst file until a new email arrives and overwrites the area or the user compacts the .pst file. Is there some software that can retrieve this email? It can be freeware/shareware/licensed software. RE: ONStream backups
I've been using two of them to backup excahnge and 4 servers in our company for over 1 1/2 years. They have worked great and interfaced easily with Backup Exec. I have had only one tape that failed in a short amount of time. They rest have been great. I would recommend them to anyone Brad Van Otterloo, EE, MCSE, MCP+Internet Network Administrator/Controls Engineer -Original Message- From: Scott Yorga [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, January 31, 2002 9:23 AM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: ONStream backups Hi. Does anyone have any experience with Onstream ADR50 backup drives? I'm looking at one to back up an Exch2K server, and some other Win2K servers and their data. Budget is extremely limited (what else is new), and 50GB of storage for under $700 looks pretty appealing. RE: virus scan
Another reason this message shows up is if you have the checkmark made for Find all macros and the word document has a macro in it. -Original Message- From: Neil Ferguson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, January 18, 2002 4:33 AM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: RE: virus scan I've had this with Groupshield, it's a feature. You need to configure the on demand scan to not block the attachment '_??' Also, you'll need hotfix 7 and need to configure the options regarding macros - don't select 'enable macro heuristics' and 'find all macros'. I can't remember the article off the top of my head but it was in the NAI knowledgebase Hopefully that should resolve the problem -Original Message- From: aci [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: 18 January 2002 03:17 To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: virus scan I was told that this was not a virus and that it was a problem with the detection message where no detection name is given, is an error message that is given by the engine and misinterpreted by the GUI product, not a detection by the DAT files.
