More SMPT help on Exchange 5.5 please!
ok, I admit I am still new to exchange 5.5 since I kinda just ended up as Exchange Admin.( no one else wanted the job!) Since the general consenses seems to be the Exchange 5.5 will not auto generate the second smpt address on account creation, I will deal. I have imported the new smpt addresses into the current acounts so that they now have 2 smpt address.(@abc.com and @xyz.com) Both smtp address are in the IMS routing tab. Users can currently can recieve from both addresses and send from abc.com which is the orignal address. I have the following questions: on NT 4.0 SP5 Exchange 5.5 sp 4 How do I change my outgoing smpt to @xyz.com from @abc.com. Is there a way to route @xyz.com addresses into the original @abc.com's smpt or visa versa. I understand I can change the default smpt address through site addressing. Is there a way to get @xyz.com to route into the orignal @abc.com without having it in each users list of e-mail addresses. Can I have [EMAIL PROTECTED] and exchange 5.5 will route in to [EMAIL PROTECTED] without me adding [EMAIL PROTECTED] to his list of addresses. (or visa versa using the new smpt accounts and routing the old ones?) does this even make sense, cause I may not understanding things correctly. There's an outside chance you could write some form of script, but if you're looking for a magic option in the Admin program then forget it. I need a solution for exchange. I have now have 2 smtp addresses (abc.com and xyz.com) for each user and they want to keep it that way. Thanks to an earlier suggustion, we have imported the second e-mail address in to existing users. the recieve e-mail from both accounts fine. I have both addresses setup in the IMS routing tab. When I create a new account It ONLY generates a smpt address for the orignal (abc.com)not both(abc.com and xyz.com. How do I setup exchange to defaulty generate both smpt addresses during account creation. With the import/export method, you can have a 2nd SMTP address as you've noticed. To get this done automatically, you'll need to get Exchange 2000. However, the problem you have is when sending messages. Users can only have 1 outgoing SMTP address. Site addressing
NT 4 SP 5 Exchange 5.5 SP 4 We are currently running with an smtp address of @abcdefg.com and when a users is created an smtp address of [EMAIL PROTECTED] is autogenerated. We have been awarded xyz.com. We would like to set it up so that users can send and recieve from both addresses without having to manually add the address to each account. Also we would like to have it create smtp accounts for both addresses automaticily. We have added wxyz.com to the IMS routing information. If we manually add @xyz.com address to a test account (@abcdefg.com is auto generated when the account was created) it works fine. How do we get it to auto add the smtp address to existing and new accounts? any thoughts would be appreciated. Liz List Charter and FAQ at: http://www.sunbelt-software.com/exchange_list_charter.htm

Anit-Virus Software for Exchange
We are currently using Norton Anti-Virus for Exchange which oldly enough has been working fairly well. My boss, for cost reasons, wishes to examine Alternatives. Can you guys recommend some products? and Which products sould I try to tell him no way, if you want it to work! on? So far we have looked at F-Secure. Any other thoughts? Thanks For your comments!!! RE: Information Store Limit
Hear! Hear! We use Pst's and ost's successfully in combination. I am not recommending them as an alternative to a bit of space on the exchange server (ours is a 20 meg limit) but some users will abuse unlimited space. (we have one user who fills up her 20 meg limit in 6 hours) While you do have to be carefully, I have found that with proper training of the users, that both psts and osts can be used. BTW: Sometimes File server pace is cheaper the exchange server space. The IT dept. pays for the Exchange server, but individual deptarments buy space on the file server. RE: Anit-Virus Software for Exchange
We use CA's IncoulateIT on the desktop and I am not impressed. Can anyone give me some NICE Examples of CA's IncoulateIT crashing or messing up the server. Unfortunatly, that is the direction my boss is leaning right now. Liz List Charter and FAQ at: http://www.sunbelt-software.com/exchange_list_charter.htm

RE: Anit-Virus Software for Exchange
h. Is it a setup or a stickup? Personally, Norton is working, so if it is not broken don't fix it. But my boss wishes to save some money during this recession. I want a virus checker that will work!! Liz List Charter and FAQ at: http://www.sunbelt-software.com/exchange_list_charter.htm
